How I styled a Filipino Ifugao Tapis

Hey Friends!!!

October is coming to an end which means my Filipino American History Month series is ending as well. So I wanted to end the month with an outfit post, last year I styled a traditional barong. (here) This year, I actually asked my aunt in the Philippines to send me something traditional that I could wear and she sent me an Ifugao tapis which is generally a rectangular piece of cloth that is hand woven and is usually worn wrapped around as a skirt.

I know it's been awhile since I last posted but I've been going through a lot of personal things that have kept me from posting. I know I've said I'm back a few times but things keep happening, so this time I wont say it. But yeah it's Fall and their is one thing that I love more then fall fashion and that's fall television. I'm talking Empire, How to get away with Murder, The Walking Dead and so many more shows. But I also get excited for new ones as well and one of the shows I've been excited about is "Scream Queens," because the cast looks great and I love the outfits that I see on the show. I love the preppy and girly style that I see the characters wearing which brings us to today's post, continue to see which character and outfit I was inspired by.

When I think of casual, it's what I wear more on a daily basis and for me it's usually skirts, dresses and shorts. So today I'm sharing a shorts outfit.

How is everyone doing? It's been such a gloomy day here in SoCal but it's so humid. Hows the weather where you are? Well today's Curves challenge is girly girl and when I think of girly girl I picture pink, ruffles and bows. So that's what I tried to do with my outfit today.

I hope everyone is starting the year off great so far. So today's post has to do with the virtual holiday party that I did a few weeks back, if you don't remember I teamed up with two great bloggers Liz and Hailey and we each through a virtual holiday party with decorations and recipes. At the time I had not received my item from SimplyBe and I got the item right before Christmas on Christmas eve which was great. But I hadn't gotten to post about it because I had to get it altered but more about that later. :)

Hey lovelies, I hope your having a wonderful day. So "Curves Around the World" is back and today were giving you our Halloween style for this year. So Halloween happens to be my Birthday, so I pretty much always dress up. So this year I didn't know where I was going but I decided to put this costume together anyways. I like DIYing costumes because costume's are so expensive and can be so generic. So I went on pinterest and searched there DIY costumes and came across an Owl costume.

So I'm still doing catch up on the blog, so this is another back blog from the "Curves Around the World" themes and today's theme crazy for prints is because we are loving all the print styles that are in style for fall from floral to animal print but I have admit one of my favorites is checkered or plaid. It's not something new for fall but I'm loving the new checkered prints, so that is the print I decided to choose for today's post.

Now when I saw this theme I wasn't sure how to put an outfit together without seeming like a costume. Sorry for my lack of post this month, we just finished a heat wave in California and I did not want to go out and take photos when it was in triple digits outside plus I have had less time to get things done. I really need to start reorganizing my time so I can be back on track with the blog. But yes I'm back with a back theme from Curves Around the world, "Floral" and dark floral's are my favorite trend for fall. It might officially be fall now but the weather in California is still summer, so with this outfit I'm dreaming of fall of cooler weather.
