Bright Days

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Once again it was a very warm weekend. I had a good one, i was able to meet up with a friend that I haven't seen in almost a year. I love when you see a friend that you haven't seen in so long, but it's still the same as its always been. Well here is the outfit I wore when I saw my friend.

The shorts I'm wearing are from H&M and I always get excited when I see a size 14 at H&M because it's very rare. But I knew I had to try them on because 14 doesn't always fit me, so I was happy when they fit me, oh yeah there were on sale too. I got these last year and these were my first pair of shorts that I had ever gotten. You see I never used to wear shorts, I loved wearing dresses and skirts but I was never comfortable in shorts. I only wore shorts when I went swimming and as Pj's. But last year I got the courage to wear shorts because of some of the great plus-size bloggers that I followed. They showed me that as long as your comfortable and confident in what your wearing, there's nothing wrong with it. :)

 {shirt|Old Navy} {shorts| H&M} {sweater| Target} {shoes|LoveD} {necklace| market in Philippines}

So I really love these shorts they have a palm tree print on them and there black and white, which I really love. I was going to pair this with a white top and black sweater to go with the whole black and white trend this spring and summer. But I thought it would be nice to pair it with a bright yellow top, you cant really tell in the pictures but the top is like a neon yellow and I wasn't too sure about the color of the top. But I think it paired pretty well with the shorts and I'm glad I took a chance and got the shirt.

Have a wonderful day! ~Nina~

Friday Favorites

Hey Everyone! It's Friday again and that means Friday Favorites! :) I'm still trying to figure everything on my blog but I'm liking these Friday favorites.

So my first favorite is strawberries, I've been eating strawberries this whole week. I don't know if its strawberry season yet, but they are selling them everywhere and there all on sale too, so that means I have lots of strawberries in my fridge! Today I even went to a doughnut place near my house called Donut Man and they are famous for there strawberry donuts. The picture below is of the strawberry doughnut, looks yummy huh? It was! :)

My next favorite is the show the Voice, I've always been a fan of the show. But I'm liking this season a lot but I'm not going to lie, I do miss Ceelo as a coach. But yeah I have to say I really like this show and I'm excited for next week. This one of my favorite performances from this weeks episodes. :)

I saw this on pinterest and I don't know I just love everything about it! It made me smile! I got the pin (here), I believe it's from SWAK designs, which is a plus size line. But yeah I just love it because really it shouldn't matter what shape you are, your awesome! :)

That's about all the favorites that I can think of right now. What are some of your favorites? Is there anything you think I should put on my favorites? Suggestions would help a lot! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! ~Nina~

Summer Sandals

Hello Everyone! So since it's been so hot here in California I've been looking for a great pair of sandals and i'm really liking the style of sandals with an ankle strap and plain straps in the front. So I looked around and I was happy to see there are a lot of different stores that carry the type of sandals that I was looking for. So I decided to show you some of the one's that I found.

Summer Sandals

I really like the these type of sandals because the thong style sandals always seems to hurt my feet. I like the way these type of strap sandals look on me  because I have fatter feet so they don't look as wide with these straps. I bought a pair last year from target that were on sale and I didn't try them on because I was in a hurry and it turned out that the ankle strap didn't close around my ankle, so i never got to wear them. But good thing my mom has the same size foot as me so I gave them to her. So now I'm on a hunt for a pair that fits me well, I was about to buy the one's from Old Navy but they didn't have the style I wanted. I really like the tan ones but they didn't have those in my size. I really love the Zara sandals but they are out of my price range so I'm thinking of getting the one's from Target. I really like the colors and they also have a fun tribal print one too.

Have you gotten yourselves a pair of summer sandals yet? What kind of sandals do you like to wear in the summer?

Festival style

Hello everyone, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This weekend was like the start of summer here in California, it was in the 80's but it felt like it was in the 90's. It was really hot, I wasn't prepared for it. But yeah I decided to put together a festival style look. I actually wore this out that day, minus the flower crown though. Sorry the pictures are very bright and their are shadows on my face, it was a very bright day.

I decided to wear a white flowy top because it was so hot outside and I wanted to stay away from the darker colors. Plus when I saw pictures of festival wear online there were a lot of white flowy outfits. I paired it with plain jean shorts because I think the more simple the better. I didn't want to get too crazy with the outfit because I was going to wear it for the rest of the day. I also wore a light flowy cardigan, just to cover my arms, I'm not comfortable showing my arms yet but i figured it was OK as long as it was a light and I rolled up the sleeves.

 {Top | Target} {Shorts & Cardigan | Old Navy} {shoes | LoveD} {necklace | gift}
{bracelet | market in the Philippines} {flower crown | DIY}

How do you think I did with the look? Is it believable for festival style?

Friday Favorites

Hello Everyone, it's Friday again so I decided to do my Friday Favorites again. I think I'm going to make this a normal thing on my blog from now on, will see how long I can keep it up. hehe

First I want to share this video from Dove, I saw this on The Belated Bloomer blog and was inspired by it. I know I can relate to being very hard on myself sometimes and getting caught up in all my imperfections that I don't realize that sometimes those imperfections are things that people see in a positive way. But besides that we shouldn't think of think negatively about our imperfections and just love ourselves for who we are. Like it says at the end of the video, "You are more beautiful then you think."

On Another note, the Lakers made it to the finals and their even in 7th place!!! Not many people know this about me, not even some of my closest friends, but I'm a big basketball fan and on top of that I am guilty of being a Lakers fan. haha But yeah i'm really happy they made it to the finals.  :)

Ok, so I'm really in love with these lace shorts from Forever 21+. I've always wanted a pair of lace shorts, I used to see them on chictopia and lookbook all the time but I could never find any in plus sizes. I saw one at Ross in an XL but when I tried them they were too small for me. So I was even thinking of DIYing my own shorts, so when I saw them on Forever 21+ I was in love, you can tell I even featured them in my Festival style mood board. But I think I have to try them on at the store first because sometimes shorts can be a hit or miss for me but I'm really loving these. You can get them from ( here )

Ok and Lastly I wanted to let you all know that I finally joined Instagram and Twitter. I have been anti-both for awhile but my friends have finally convinced me to Join, So if you have an account on either you can follow me on Instagram ( here ) and twitter ( here ) , so lets be friends! hehe I'm also adding a link on the side. :) I know I'm so late on joining the bandwagon, I feel super overwhelmed but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it! :)

Have a Wonderful weekend ~Nina~

Gingham and Winds...

Hey Everyone! Today was a nice day in California but it was pretty windy, those Santa Ana winds. That's why in the bottom you can kinda see the wind blowing my dress and my hair.

My favorite thing about spring and summer is wearing dresses because they are so easy to wear. I really like the gingham print on this dress and I got it on sale too. I love going to the sale section to look for clothes on sale, which is a good and a bad thing because sometimes I get things just because they are on sale but I'm trying to change that. But I do like a good sale, especially since I'm a girl on a budget.

I'm wearing wedges in the picture but it got pretty cold later on in the day so I switched them to boots but I didn't get a chance to take a picture with my boots on.

Plus Size Music Festival Style

Hey everyone, I hope your all doing good. Well this past weekend there was a big music festival called Coachella and I had a lot of friends go, it's not really my kind of thing but I love looking at the fashion at the event. Pictures from the event are all over the internet like pinterest and other websites. But I noticed something while looking through all the pictures, there is no plus size person in any photos and that kind of made me think why isn't there any photos of Plus-size individuals. Well I know that there had to be some that went, so i decided to put together a mood board of what I think some fashionable plus-size women would wear to Coachella.

Have any of you been looking through photos from the event? And if you have,  did you see any plus size girls? Why do you think there are no photos of plus size girls from Coachella?

Well have a wonderful day ~Nina~

All you need is Love

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! It's been a very gloomy  weekend so I was happy I could wear my new sweater because it was cold enough and not the usual 80 degrees in California.

I got this sweater at Old Navy and it was on sale, I actually really wanted the other designs but I had to go with this one because it was the only one in my size. Has that ever happened to you, where you have to get the design just because it was in your size? I think the design of the sweater is growing on me and I'm starting to like it more. I really like this sweater because its really thin and it's great for when the weather isn't as hot.

Friday Favorites

Hey Everyone, it's Friday again and I decided to do Friday favorites again.

So for some reason I'm really liking those fake flower crowns that I've been seeing on pinterest and different websites. I don't think I could really pull it off for just going out but there's something about wearing a flowers in your hair and I think its because of Spring and when you think of Spring you think flowers. Well below is a flower headband from forever 21 you can get it (Here), I think this is a little bit more wearable then the flower crown. Below is also a picture of me this past Halloween where I wore like a flower crown because I was a fairy. :)  What do you think about flower crowns?

So I don't know about you but when the weather gets hotter I love lemonade and tea, so when you put them together it's a super favorite. This green tea version of an Arnold Palmer is rediscovered favorite of this week. I used to love this drink and would buy it at the 99 cent store all the time. But then they stopped selling them and recently I was at the store and I found it and I bought a few and have been drinking them all week! :) I really like this version because it's a little bitter because of the green tea and I like to make it sour by adding fresh squeezed lemons in it. What's your go to drink when the weather warms up?

So this is my favorite quote right now, I saw it on pinterest, and because sometimes I can be very negative about myself and this quote helps to remind me that I should be more positive.

So I don't know if any of you have seen this Gwiyomi video, it's a Korean song about being cute and has little hand gestures to the words of the song. I've been obsessed with these videos ever since I saw the first video a friend posted in the beginning of this week. I don't know why, it's just so cute and I know if I had a youtube channel I would totally do a video of this. Have any of you seen videos to this song, It's like the harlem shake video but for girls. hehe

Well I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ~Nina~

Printed Pants

Hey Everyone! So on Friday I posted a pair of paisley pants that I really loved from Forever 21+ and I decided to post a few ways I would style them. A casual way and a more dressed up way for a night out.

Printed Pants 2 ways

Oh by the way everything in the picture above is from forever 21! I really love that store and I really think it caters to different styles and ages (My mom still shops at Forever 21) But it also has everything at the store, its like a one stop shop. Are you guys going to try the printed pants trend?

Something Different

Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a great weekend. So I was really inspired by the girls that do Marvelous Mondays (Goodbye HollywoodFat Fashionable FeministCheri'z Angel and style luvin, and two other girls) I love the concept that they have to dress up on Monday's to make the day less of a hated day. If you haven't checked them out, click the links and check them out! :)  But yeah their theme last week was to wear something that they have trouble styling. I thought this was such a great thing because I have a number of pieces in my closet that I have trouble styling.

One of the most challenging pieces in my closet is this kimono style jacket from H&M. I bought this 2 years ago and I have only worn it once, I bought it for a friends wedding because when I saw it I loved the colors and I was happy something from H&M fit me because it's kinda rare I find things that fit me. But yeah I wore it as a jacket for my friends wedding but i actually didn't even like the way it looked but I had no choice because it was the only jacket I brought to the wedding, so the only reason why I wore it was because I had no choice. So I thought of exactly this jacket in my closet when I saw what the girls theme last Monday.

So this is how I styled the jacket, really simple with some forever 21+ jeans and a black tank from old navy. I wore it with my boots that I got from the swap meet and a mixture of jewelry that I've gotten from different places. I'm not sure if I really like the way it came out but I think its ok.

Here's a closer look of my jewelry, the watch is from Target and the bracelets are from different stores I'm not too sure about. I was having a bad hair day and my go to accessory for my hair is a headband, if you saw my old blog I was obsessed with headbands, and a lot of the headbands I own I have made including this one.

The last picture is my doggy Mocha and me, I think she was getting jealous and wanted to be in the pictures so i decided to let her be in one! :)

Friday Favorites

Hey Everyone! So I've noticed a few blogs that do Friday favorites and I thought I would try it out and see how it goes, I think its a great concept. So these are a few of my favorites right now

My favorite Quote of the week is...

"Every day may not be good...But there's something good in every day"

My favorite youtube channel right now is Charisma Star TV. I love watching her videos because she is such a happy person and when you watch her you can't help but be happy as well. You can tell she put's a lot of thought into her tutorials because they are made so well and they kind of transport you into another world. I defiantly think you should check her out channel if you haven't heard of her yet.

My favorite item right now that I really hope to get are these Forever 21+ Paisley print skinny jeans. Once I saw them, I was in love with them because I think they will be great spring and they can transition into the fall because they go with the whole black and white trend. You can get these (Here) and they are $24.80. These are on the top of my wishlist for the spring.

Well here are a few of my favorites right now. I'm not sure if I'm going to do this every Friday but I just thought i would give it a try.

I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend ~Nina~

Break the Rules

Hello Everyone! So I was on pinterest (I love pinterest) and I saw something from stylishcurves.com about breaking the rules and wearing crop tops. I totally agree with this. I actually made this post about how I would wear a bandeau because I saw one on Forever 21+ website but they recently sold out and it is no longer on the website. But since I saw this on pinterest I decided to post it anyways. I really believe that women of all sizes can wear anything they want as long as they have confidence in what they are wearing and they feel great in it. Who cares what other people say or think. But of coarse I know there are women who might not feel comfortable in a crop top and I think that's fine, I'm just saying if you want to wear one and your comfortable then do it.

I know personally, I've never been comfortable in wearing a bikini or a cropped top. But I feel like it's because I always felt that it was frowned upon just like wearing horizontal stripes, shorts and all the other things your not suppose to wear because your plus-sized. But I've come to realize that you can wear those things as long as feel comfortable in it and you love yourself not to care what others think. I don't think I'm comfortable enough to wear a bikini or a two piece yet but that's why I really want to try this trend, I think it's a step for me to be like "hey I'm beautiful and I love my body and I don't care what society says!"

How I would wear a Bandeau

How I would wear a Bandeau by curvy-mod featuring h&m jackets

The bandeau that is in the picture is from Forever 21+ and I was so happy they made one for plus-size women because I've seen bandeau's in a lot of stores but never one that fit me. So when I saw it on the F21+ website I was excited because I think you can wear them in numerous ways. I really hope they make more and in different styles. So these are just a few ways I would wear a bandeau which is technically a short tube top or tube bikini top. But these different ways can also go great with a crop top as well.

1. I think it would look great under a blazer, ala Nadia Aboulhosn. I can picture her wearing it this way or I'm pretty sure she has already worn something similar to this. This is just a classier way to wear a bandeau or crop top and you can adjust how much you want to be seen by buttoning up your blazer or leaving it open.

2. For a more sporty look or toned down look, you can pair it with a one of those tank tops that are cut widely on the sides. I think this would look great going to the beach or a nice day out. I personally have a few tank tops like this and I usually just wear it with my bra showing, but i think a bandeau is a much nicer way to wear it. :)

3. Lastly, I think this is the easiest way to wear a bandeau or a crop top is with something that is high waisted, a skirt or some jeans would really look great. I like this way a lot and this is the way I've seen a lot of plus-size women wear cropped tops and look awesome.

I hoped I helped some of you in maybe trying this trend out. I know if I find a cute crop top or i'm able to find this bandeau in a forever 21+ near me I will try it out and show you all how I wear it.

LA day

Hey everyone! So I had a little trip to LA with some of my friends recently, it was nice to go to LA because I haven't been there in awhile. I went with a friend that had to do something there, so we made it a little LA day with friends.

Our first stop was the Grove, This is where all my pictures where taken because it was such a nice day. Thank you to my friends that took my pictures, I'm really thankful that they are so supportive of me doing this blog. On another note this picture to the right was taken of me next to the trolley that goes around the Grove. It was stopped to pick up some passengers and my friends that it would be nice for me to take pictures in front of it. I was hesitant but they convinced me to do it and we had to do it fast because they were almost done loading all the passengers. Here is one of the pictures we took and although I liked the others I think this was the best one that was taken. I especially like how you can see my necklace, I just got it recently. It was from the swap-meet and I know not a lot of people don't think of shopping at swap-meets but I think they are great places to find unique and cheap things. I think of them as smaller versions of flea markets.

{tank & sweater: Old Navy} {skirt: made it} {shoes: LoveD} {necklace:swapmeet} {tights:target}

It was a really nice day in LA, the sun was shining but it was a little bit chilly because the wind was blowing. I'm glad I wore some tights, although I'm not sure about the color of tights I chose they helped keep me warm.

Here's a picture of me and my friends, they are the ones that helped me take the pictures. Thanks for your help girls! :) Right behind us they had picture taking with the Easter bunny and we really wanted to take some but the line was so long that we decided not to.

We ended our LA day trying a place called MILK there known for there macron ice cream sandwiches. But by the time we got there they were almost all out of the sandwiches so my friends opted for ice cream but since I really wanted to try what they are known for I got the coffee toffee ice cream sandwich and let me tell you it was pretty yummy! :)

Easter

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great Easter with their families. I had a nice day with my family. This is what I wore for Easter, sorry that I am squinting in my pictures these were taken early in the mourning before church and where I took the pictures is directly in front of the sun!

So this was the first time I tried sock curls for my hair, I see so many tutorials online and they seemed easy, so i gave it a try. I think they came out pretty well, I was really happy with them.

{Dress, necklace, watch: Target} {Sweater: Old Navy} {Shoes: Forever 21}

The dress I'm wearing is from Target and it's a Hello Kitty dress and if you know me you know I really love Hello Kitty. When I first saw this line at target I really loved it but at all the targets I went to they only ran up to a large size. Then I finally found this dress at one target and it was in XL and it looked really small for me but I decided to try it on anyways and I was so happy it fit. Except for the belt that came with the dress, I don't know why they make belts for clothes that wont fit the person wearing the clothes. But I actually was able to make the belt work because there are cutouts of Hello Kitty's on the belt and I was able to use that as the notch on the belt, and just like Tim Gunn says "Make it work!" I think it's great when something you didn't think would fit turns out to fit you, that just proves that you can't hold yourself back because of size.

Have a wonderful day ~Nina~
