From old to new

Hey everyone, how is everyone doing? If you live in California you know that right now there's a heat wave going on and man do I hate it. I like warm weather but this 100 degree weather is too much for me. So if your in California, I hope your staying cool in this heat wave.

So last week we had the challenge to wear stripes and like I said in that post I've always been hesitant to wear them. I mean I've always liked the trend but it wasn't something I was comfortable in wearing until last week and with all the positive feedback everyone gave me I decided to try it again. This is another stripped shirt that I had in my closet that has never been worn because of my phobia with stripes. And I have to say I'm really liking stripes right now, I never thought I would ever say that.
 {top & vest|Old Navy} {skirt|Target} {shoes|Philippines} {necklace|DIY}

So both the vest and the skirt are pretty old pieces that I've had in my closet but haven't worn in a long time. I like when I find pieces in my closet that I haven't seen in awhile and when you wear them it's like new. I don't know about you but sometimes I get so used to wearing some things that I wear them constantly, so when I get into a fashion stump I look in my closet and try to wear something out of the norm.  What do you do when your in a fashion stump?
So one of my new things that I like doing is making jewelry, and the necklace that I'm wearing is one of the things that I've made recently. I'm not sure if I like it or if I should change it up a bit. What do you think of the necklace?

Curves Around the World: Little Black Dress

Hello Everyone! So it's time for another "Curves around the World" theme and this weeks theme is the "Little Black Dress!" The little black dress or LBD, is the one thing that I think that every women should have in there closet. It's just that one piece that you can always count on if you have to dress up and don't know what to wear.
This week's challenge made me look into the part of my closet that I haven't worn in a very long time. I haven't dressed up in a long time, I mean I love to dress up but wearing a nice dress out isn't something I do often. I don't go out very much or if I do it's more casual then dress up. But when I was looking at my black dresses, I realized I only own one dress that is all black  and all my other dresses have other colors on them. But I have to say this is my go to dress and I've worn this dress quite a few times. Actually I've had this dress for so long, I don't remember where I got it from.
{necklace|Burlington Coat Factory} {shoes|Target} {bracelets|Forever 21}
So to be honest usually when I wear this dress I wear it with a sweater because I used to be so uncomfortable wearing sleeveless clothing. But I've been getting a lot better at not wearing something to cover up my arms. When I put this dress on I was reaching for a jacket to put on top but I decided I don't need it and it kinda felt nice to be more confident, baby steps right! :)

So I wore one of the necklaces from my statement necklaces theme because I really like wearing this necklace when I wear a more formal outfit. I think it complements the outfit well. What do you think? How do you usually accessorize your little black dress?

So now you go check out the other wonderful ladies from "Curves around the World" and check out there great Little Black Dresses!

Girly Baseball Cap

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great week and today is the first day of summer! So I don't know if you know but this week was the start of the Full Figured Fashion week in New York and I've been following all my favorite bloggers that are at the event through instagram and liking all there pictures. And I mean I've been liking all there pictures, there probably like who is this girl liking all my photos! lol But yeah it looks like so much fun, I can only dream to go to such an awesome event some day, hey there's nothing wrong with dreaming right! So for right now I'm living the event through instagram! hehe
But yeah a little while ago I wrote about the Baseball cap trend, click the link to check it out. So I went to the swap meet with my mom last weekend and we both forgot our sunglasses. So when we were walking around we saw a stand that was selling hats that were pretty cheap, my mom got a cute summer hat for only $5. I wasn't feeling a summer hat for myself so when I was looking at their hats I saw these cute floral baseball caps and I remembered that I wrote about baseball caps on the blog so I thought it would be perfect to do a look with them. Oh not to mention that the baseball hat was only $2 so I had to get it. So the result is this semi-sporty look for you all. Sorry about the weird pose, it's the only one that I liked from all the full body shots! haha
So after shooting all the full body shots I thought I would try the baseball cap in different ways and I actually really like the way the hat looked turned backwards better then the way it looked forward. What to you guys think? Oh by the way my whole outfit that I'm wearing is from Old Navy except the shoes and the hat!
And the last picture is with my little princess Mocha! This picture was too cute not to post I love the way she's looking at the camera! hehe

Curves Around the World: Stripes

Hey Everyone, I hope you are doing great! It feels like forever since I've blogged because I've been so busy with things at home. But I'm here for another "Curves Around the World" theme challenge and I have to say this has to be the hardest one that I've done so far. This weeks theme...Stripes!

Ok so I for as long as I can remember my mom has always told me not to wear stripes because it will make you look bigger and I have always had that in the back of my head. But since I've seen some great plus size bloggers wear stripes and look awesome, I decided to put some stripes in my wardrobe. I bought a few shirts but because in the back of my head I keep hearing my mom say don't wear stripes, I never reach for them. So yes I have a few stripped shirts in my closet that have never been worn and still have the tags on them. This being one of them, but since the theme was stripes I figure I might as well break the rules and push myself to wearing stripes.
Ok so this striped shirt here has to be one of my favorite striped shirts in my closet but it has never been worn. I got this on sale from forever 21+ and I loved how they it was a graphic black and white top that wasn't the usual stripes. But every time I thought of wearing it, I would try it on and didn't feel comfortable in it, so I would end up taking it off and putting it back in my closet. So I thought this would be a perfect top for the stripes theme.
{top & tank|Forever21+} {shoes|Old Navy} {skirt| made by mom}

So this is the outfit I came up with, I thought the top was too short because I like wearing longer tops so I put a longer tank underneath. I'm wearing another skirt my mom made for me, sorry for always wearing skirts my mom has made me but it's because 75% of the skirts in my closet are made by my mom. hehe But yeah I chose this red pencil skirt because I really like black and white with red so this being my other red skirt I thought it would be pair well. What do you think of the outfit?
So I tried to do my hair twists that I saw from ElleSees blog and I don't think it came out that great. I was trying to do something different with my hair because it's so out of control right now and I haven't had time to cut it. But yeah I just wanted to share it with you and you can click the link above and check out her twits looks, which are a lot better then mine! She has some great summer looks on her blog right now.

So now you go check out the other wonderful ladies from "Curves around the World" and check out their great Stripe outfits!

Curves Around the World: Statement Necklace

Hello Everyone! It's that time of the week again, hump day the middle of the week when everyone is ready for the weekend. It's also time for the 3rd Curves Around the World Challenge! I'm excited for this one because if you follow my blog I always write about how I love accessories because they are one of my favorite things ever. So this weeks challenge is statement necklaces, how exciting is that.

Last week's challenge was Lace and here is a recap of all the wonderful outfits that the lovely ladies from Curves Around the World came up with. They all look great, don't you think. Be sure to check out there outfit for this weeks theme, I'm sure they all put together some wonderful outfits!

Kate from Australia - Sparkles and Lace
Laura from Canada - Lavish Laura
Helen from England - Everyone Should Sparkle
Thulie from South Africa - Thick fit and Fabulous

{Top|Old Navy} {skirt|made by Mom} {shoes|Forever21}
I kept my outfit very simple especially my top because I wanted my necklace to stand out. So I decided to wear a plain black top so all the focus would be on my necklaces. I paired the top with a black tribal print skirt that my mom had made for me because I love the print on the skirt and it's very comfortable. Plus the day was a little warm so I needed something that was a little lighter to keep me cool throughout the day.
So when I saw that this weeks challenge was a statement necklace, I wasn't sure what to wear because I have a have a few different statement necklaces. So when I was choosing which one to wear I decided to stack two statement necklaces together, I figured why not double the statement pieces to make it extra special.

Here is closer picture of the necklaces together. The top necklace is from Burlington Coat Factory, they have some great statement necklaces there. I actually saw this necklace on the mannequin and it was the only one left so they let me get one on display.
The picture above is of my bottom necklace I wanted to show you a picture of it alone because I love this necklace. If you remember my post where I was wearing an orange shirt and another statement necklace I mentioned it was a 2 for $5 deal and this is the other necklace that I got. Plus I know I just wrote about loving art deco and this necklace reminds me of trend!

Which way do you think looks better the necklaces stacked or by itself?

Now don't forget to check out the other ladies and there wonderful statement necklaces! Just click on there links at the top of the page and don't forget to tell them how great they look! :)

Have a wonderful rest of the week! ~Nina~

Art Deco

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful week and having a fun weekend so far! Have any of you watched the movie "The Great Gatsby" yet? I've been wanting to watch the movie but I have no one to watch it with, most of my friends that wanted to watch the movie have already seen it. So I guess I have to wait till it comes out on DVD. But I just love the 1920's and the whole style of that era. Just looking at the pictures from the movie really inspire me.

I really like the whole art deco style of the 1920's and if you look at the jewelry that is around right now you can find that there are a lot of art deco inspired pieces out there.

What is Art Deco? According to the Webster dictionary Art Deco is a popular design style of the 1920s and 1930s characterized especially by bold outlines, geometric and zigzag forms, and the use of new materials.

Above is a mood board of some art deco inspired pieces that I found from Forever 21. If you have been following my blog you know that I love Forever 21 because they have some great trendy pieces that are very affordable. What do you think of the art deco trend? Is it something you would wear?

Have a great weekend everyone! ~Nina~

Curves Around the World: Lace

Hey Everyone, I hope your week is going well! It's that time of the week for another Theme from the girls from Curves around the world! Last weeks theme was Animal print and below is a banner of all the fabulous women from our blog group and what they wore during last weeks challenge.

This weeks theme was Lace, I had a few things to choose from but I decided to choose my first maxi dress I've ever gotten. I always thought I could never wear a maxi dress because I'm a short girl but I saw this maxi dress from forever 21+ and thought it wasn't so bad on me, plus it was on sale so I was like why not. The only problem was that it was really long on me but I figured that I can always put a belt on and pull it up to make it a little shorter on me.

 {dress |F21+} {Sweater & sunglasses|F21} {shoes|H&M} {bag|Aldo} {necklace|Macy's}

This day I went to Santa Monica with my friends and it was pretty fun. I have to tell you I was able to conquer my fear of Ferris wheels, I really hate heights so I've never been on one before. But I said it's time to conquer my fear and I know my friends will be there to help me through it. And I'm so happy they were there for me, I really don't think I would have done it without them!l :) See the picture below, I am very nervous I'm gripping to the sides, and this is actually when we weren't moving yet but we were half way up. haha
"Fear is not real. It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice." - movie After Earth

After Santa Monica my friends and I went to watch a movie at the Hollywood cemetery. We were suppose to do this our last LA trip but it was sold out that day. So this time we prepared and got our tickets ahead of time and came early, but let me tell you there was so many people there. Last time they said there was about 3,000 people there and it was sold out, this time it was sold out as well. It's really a fun experience, you can bring your own food and blankets and you can even bring wine and alcohol if you want. The movie we watched was "Some like it hot" with Marilyn Monroe and it was my first time ever watching one of her movies, and I have to say I really enjoyed the movie! :)

Here's a picture from the photo booth that they had. It was really a fun experience, it's definitely something I recommend and If you go with a group of friends I'm sure you will have lots of fun! :)

Don't forget to check out the rest of the wonderful ladies from Curves Around the World, I'm sure each one of them has an awesome lace outfit!
