Curves Around the World: Favorite Song

Hello Beauties!!! Sorry for a lack of posts and comments on your blogs, this month has been crazy for me. But I'm trying to catch up and today's post is on time, Yay! So this week's theme is "favorite song," and let me tell you I have a lot of favorite songs. All my favorite songs have special meanings to me whether they inspire me or have memories attached to them. So when I was thinking of which one to choose it was a tough decision. But I decided to go with something that inspires me and also has memories attached to it.

Curves Around the World: DIY

Hello Hello Hello!
I hope everyone is having a fantastic 2014 so far! I'm happy to be back blogging, I took a mini break from things just to enjoy the holiday's with my family and friends. But I missed blogging and checking out everyone's blogs, it's going to take me awhile to catch up on all the blogs I follow. But I'm really looking forward to this upcoming year of blogging, I'm hoping to start posting more and about different things as well!
So of coarse my first post of the year is "Curves Around the World" post and I'm excited for the upcoming themes that we've come up with. But this weeks theme is "DIY or Do it Yourself" and let me tell you for someone like me who doesn't have much money to buy a lot of things, it's great to DIY things to spruce up your wardrobe.
So for my DIY for this post is my crocheted hat, I learned how to crochet my first year of college and I used to crochet non-stop when I learned. But recently I haven't had the time and the patience to crochet. But I do miss doing it and I might just start doing it again. I first started crocheting scarfs and then I learned to crochet a beret type hat and let me tell you I have quite a few and in so many colors but then I started giving them away as gifts to friends that now I don't have too many to be honest. Maybe that's a sign I should start doing it again.
|What I'm Wearing|
| Sweater : Target | Top : Old Navy | Skirt | Forever 21+ |
| Tights : Old Navy| Boots : Ross |
 So if you follow my on Instagram you might have seen this sweatshirt, it's from the Phillip Lim collaboration with Target. The day this collaboration came out it was crazy, I went to target I think at 8:10 and people had multiple bags in hand. I really wanted a bag so I thought maybe I could go to another Target and find some, I ended up going to 5 different targets and not finding any of the bags. But I did have my eye on this sweater so I was happy I was able to find this in an XL and I was happy it actually fit too. But yeah on a side note after a few months my friend surprised me and was able to get me one of the small bags. Which I have to do an outfit with in the future. :)
What do you think of DIY? What are things you like to DIY? I would love to hear some of the things you DIY because I would love to try new things.

Curves Around the World: Girls Night Out

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I am loving the weather in California right now, it finally decided to get cold enough for sweaters and jackets! I love when the weather is cold, but not too cold.
navabi Curvy Blog Award 2013
Oh and I have some fun news, I was nominated for the Navabi Curvy Blog Award. I'm really honored to be considered because there are so many great blogs on there that are nominated. I don't even know how I got included on the list but I feel so honored to be part of it. So yeah if you would like to support me and some other bloggers you can vote only once but you can vote for as many bloggers you want. I know I already voted for some of my favorites! :) You can click the link above to vote, I'm number #295!!!
Well it's the middle of the week and you know what that means, Curves Around the World post! :) This weeks theme is Girls night out and I honestly my friends and I don't really go out that much. Our girls night out is usually a night in at someones place where we watch a movie, eat and drink wine! But there are rare occasions that we go out and we actually did go out this past weekend, but I was dressed as a zombie and I didn't think that would count because I was in costume. hehe
So this is my go to girls night out outfit, a dress with a jacket and boots! Actually this dress has been in my closet for awhile and I have never worn it before. If you have followed my blog for awhile you probably heard that a lot, I have a lot of things in my closet that I always tell myself I will wear that when I am more confident or when have courage to wear it. And this is one of those items because it's a body-con dress, its a light color, and it has lots and lots of horizontal lines. But when I was looking through my closet for this outfit, I told myself it's time to wear it. And you know what I've noticed that I have a lot more confidence and self love for myself right now then I've ever had before and I really think it's because of this blog. Do you have something in your closet that you really like but never wear?
{Jacket-Forever 21+} {Dress & Shoes-Target} {necklace-Philippines}
So here it is, I decided to wear the dress and I paired with my forever 21+ jacket that I got for $18 dollars. I have a feeling this will be my go to jacket this fall and winter, so you might see it a lot on here. Oh and these boots I'm wearing are old but I just love them, I tried to take a close up picture of them but they didn't come out. But they have this button detail on the side of them, and I remember when I saw these I knew I wanted them and they have been one of my favorite pairs of boots for a few years. I hope they don't break, I will be so sad! Do you have shoes that you would be so sad if they broke? I actually have a few pairs myself! hehe :)

Curves Around the World: Polka Dots

Hello Lovelies!

Well it's that time again for another "Curves Around the World" post and this weeks theme is Polka dots! I love me some Polka dots, it's one of my favorite prints. I have a lot of different polka dot items in my closet so it was a challenge to pick what to wear, I think it's always a challenge on what to wear with these themes because there is always several outfits I want to choose from. But since there is a heat wave right now in California and I decided to do a Summer look.
So I chose this outfit because I've been wanting a crop top for awhile, I got the bandeau from Forever 21+ but I wanted a crop top that was a little longer. I've seen really pretty tops at a lot of different stores but none of them have ever fit me. But one day I was on the Target website and I saw this great crop top, that came in two great prints and they went up to size XXL. I don't usually buy things online but this top was only sold online and it was on sale so I thought it was a sign so I decided to get both one in XL and the other in XXL because I figured if one didn't fit I could always return the other one. But it turned out that they both fit me because the fabric is stretchy.
So as you can tell the crop top that I'm showing you today is the polka dot one, this was the one that I got in XXL and I think it fits great. I've worn the other top a few times too it's a floral top but I've always covered up by wearing something over so you couldn't tell it's a crop top. But today I decided to bear the skin, especially in this heat. I like these bralette type crop tops because they don't show to much skin but just enough. What do you think of crop tops? Are they something you would wear?
{top & skirt | Target} {shoes | Old Navy} {earrings & bag | Philippines}
Since my top is shorter then something I usually wear, I decided to balance it out with a longer skirt. I haven't actually worn this skirt before because I've always been uncomfortable with wearing such tight clothes and it's really long so I felt like it made me look shorter. But I think with the crop top it kind of makes me look longer and taller. What do you think does it make me look taller or is it just me?
Since I was just going to run and do errands I decided to wear sandals to make the look a lot more casual. This clutch is one of my favorites that I rediscovered, I was cleaning my closet and I saw this baby tucked away in another bag and I said it was too pretty not to use. I love the colors and it has a strap too if I wanted to wear it on my shoulder. I think you will be seeing this bag more on my blog in the future. :)

Shopping Clearance Sales + Mini Haul

Hello Lovelies! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far! I don't know about you but I'm ready for fall/winter already but I think it's because it's my favorite time of the year because I love to wear layers, scarves and hats.

So, have any of you been to the mall recently? There are so many sales going on, I don't know about you but I love great deals! But shopping these clearances can be overwhelming especially seeing all the racks of different clothes. I know a lot of people who hate digging through the racks of clothes and they rather buy thing at regular price but I think of it as a treasure hunt because you never know the gems you can find. I know when I am looking through all these different clothes, I might go overboard and start getting everything that is my size. But when picking the clothes I am going to purchase I always keep in mind a few things so I don't buy everything that fits. Here are a few things you might think of when you shop sales as well.

1. What are the current trends because if the clothes are something outdated later on your not going to want to wear it. I've done this before in the past and those pieces of clothing end up going to the goodwill because I end up not wearing them.

2. What season is it going to be, I know there are so many summer clothes on sale right now but the reality is that fall is just around the corner so some of those super bright sleeveless tops wouldn't be practical to buy because I wont be using them for that long.

3. Does the piece go with your wardrobe? Because really if you get this awesome piece on sale but it doesn't go with other pieces in your wardrobe then you don't really need it.

4. Look for classics - I say these because if you can find things that will always be in trend like a little black dress, a nice coat or some great basics like tanks for layering. If you get find these things they could be things you could wear for a long time or wear often.

5. Just like this sign says "Grab it, tomorrow it might be gone forever" My mom always says this to me because if I like something I always say I'll get it next time and when it's next time it's gone already. So if you like something get it and don't wait till next time. Remember shopping sales are like a treasure hunt so if you find a gem, you never know when someone will grab it from you.

If you keep some of those in mind you will find some great things. So now onto my haul.

So Forever 21 had a sale for an extra 30% off sale items and they a had a rack of Forever 21+ clothes and I was super excited because I love Forever 21+. So I had to keep in mind the rules above because there were so many bright colored sleeveless tanks that I was so tempted to buy but I'm really glad with the two items I got.
This first item is a long sleeve shirt that's black and white with studs on the collar. I got this because I know it will be a great item for fall/winter because it's still on trend and the long sleeves with be great for the cooler weather. The price of this was $16.99 minus the 30% so I got it for $11.99 which I think is pretty good for a long sleeve top.
This next item is a red faux leather skirt and I know leather is a great staple for fall and I'm loving how it's red. I know in the picture it's a little wrinkled,I just need to steam out the wrinkles and it's good to go. This skirt was $9.99 minus the extra 30% off it came out to $6.99 great deal for a faux leather skirt.
 These boots above are from Target, I've been wanting a pair of new ankle boots and when I saw these on sale I knew I had to get them and I would be able to wear them during the fall with tights and skirts. Plus I love how it has stud on them, a great trend that was on the runway for fall. These were $17.95 and I wanted to wait till they got cheaper but my mom said these were the only size so I might as well just get them now.
Lastly these gold tip shoes were on clearance for 50% off at a store called "Call it Spring" and I was just in Forever 21 looking at shoes were exactly the same that were on display but were twice the price. So I thought it was a great deal for $15 from the original $30.

Do you like Shopping Sales? If you do what are some of your tips or secrets to shopping sales?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Think in Bright Colors

Hey everyone, Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far! The weather has been great here in California not to hot and not to cold just perfect 70 degree weather, just how I like it! So that means I can wear light layers and not die of heat.
If you saw my last post I was wearing a top made by my mom, and this top that I'm wearing was the pattern my mom used to make it. The top is actually a dress and I usually wear it with leggings but I thought of using it as a top. I really like mixing up pieces from my wardrobe and using it in different ways. Do you like experimenting with pieces in your closet? I am a person who doesn't have lots of money and I don't shop often but that doesn't mean  I can't be fashionable with the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. One way of doing that is recreating pieces that you already have wardrobe
{top & necklace|H&M} {skirt|Target} {Jacket|F21+} {sunglasses & bracklets|forever 21} {shoes|Charlotte Russe}

I love this bright colored skirt and I've only worn this once before and since it was such a pretty day that I thought it would be a great piece to wear out. Since the skirt is so bright I decided to tone it down with the polkadots. And I love how the skirts belt actually fits me because usually belts that come with things I buy never fit when I wear it with the actual item. So I was really happy that this belt actually fit because I think the color really compliments the outfit well.

Have a wonderful rest of the week everyone! ~Nina~

Brighten up a gray day

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a great week so far! The weather here in California has been overcast and raining. Oh this weird weather. But on the bright side cooler weather means I get to wear some of my warmer clothing again. I love layering and to be honest I love cold weather more then I like hot weather because I don't like the feeling of being hot. But don't get me wrong I like when the weather is warm just not scorching hot but it gets like that in California. So I'm glad that we get this little break from the scorching hot weather.

I love the earrings that I'm wearing, they're like long chains and I got them from forever 21 and I feel kinda rock and roll in them. I'm a very girly girl but I love to add little touches that make me less girly. At the same time I don't like being too dark you can say, that's why I decided to wear this mint colored sweater with all the dark colors that I was wearing.

 {top | H&M} {sweater | Old Navy} {Leggings | Target} {Boots | swap meet} {earrings | Forever 21}

I love these boots that I'm wearing too because they lace up. I'm the kind of person that has a hard time finding boots because I have big calves. So finding a pair of boots that fit over my calves is really hard, that's why I really like these boots because they are lace up you can adjust them to fit. So I suggest if you are like me and have a hard time finding boots that fit your calves you should try some lace up boots. :)

Lastly a picture with my doggy Mocha because she loves to come out when I'm taking pictures.

Have a wonderful day ~ Nina ~

Colorful Tribal Print

Happy Monday Everyone, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I have a great and busy weekend. The weather here in California is so crazy, this weekend it was in the 100's and right now its so gloomy and it's raining outside.

This is the outfit I wore to my friends baby shower on Saturday. It was really hot outside, like I said it was in the 100's where I lived but I knew where I was going it might be a little cooler. So I wore this kinda like tribal print dress. I really like this dress because it's colorful and I love the design on it as well. My only problem with this dress is it had buttons going down the whole dress and the buttons were popping out in some area's so I put small safety pins in the area's I was afraid might pop open. I learned that from one of the bloggers that I follow and I think it worked great, I had no problems with my dress that day. :)

{dress | Target} {sweater | Forever 21} {shoes | Aldo} {bracelets | Multiple places}

I really wanted to wear sandals with the dress but I'm still on a hunt for a great summer sandal that I can wear with everything. So I decided to pair my black oxfords with the dress. I love this shoes because they are so comfortable. These were actually my school shoes when I went to school in the Philippines. See I had to buy black flats and the sizes in the Philippines didn't fit me because I have wide feet and there sizes run really small, I know you can't really tell in the photo's though but my feet are big. So I went to so many different places in search for school shoes but nothing fit. So I decided to go to a brand that had American sizes that I knew would fit me and that was Aldo, and I fell in love with these oxfords when I saw them. I haven't really worn them since I got back from the Philippines, so I'm really starting to love them again!

Oh and this yellow sweater is from forever 21 not forever 21+, I got it awhile ago and before honestly I hated going to forever 21 because clothes never fit me but I would go with my mom because yeah she wears clothes from forever 21. At the time I was looking for something to wear with a dress for an occasion and I would have never thought to look at forever 21 because back then they didn't have the faith line or the forever 21+ line at the store near me. But while my mom was browsing she store she found this sweater and said it looked like it would fit me and at first I didn't want to try it on because I thought oh it wont fit me. But my mom convinced me to just try it on and I was so surprised that it fit. It just goes to show that you can't let sizes intimidate you, just try things on and you never know it might fit you. :)

Have a wonderful day everyone! ~ Nina ~

Festival style

Hello everyone, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This weekend was like the start of summer here in California, it was in the 80's but it felt like it was in the 90's. It was really hot, I wasn't prepared for it. But yeah I decided to put together a festival style look. I actually wore this out that day, minus the flower crown though. Sorry the pictures are very bright and their are shadows on my face, it was a very bright day.

I decided to wear a white flowy top because it was so hot outside and I wanted to stay away from the darker colors. Plus when I saw pictures of festival wear online there were a lot of white flowy outfits. I paired it with plain jean shorts because I think the more simple the better. I didn't want to get too crazy with the outfit because I was going to wear it for the rest of the day. I also wore a light flowy cardigan, just to cover my arms, I'm not comfortable showing my arms yet but i figured it was OK as long as it was a light and I rolled up the sleeves.

 {Top | Target} {Shorts & Cardigan | Old Navy} {shoes | LoveD} {necklace | gift}
{bracelet | market in the Philippines} {flower crown | DIY}

How do you think I did with the look? Is it believable for festival style?

Gingham and Winds...

Hey Everyone! Today was a nice day in California but it was pretty windy, those Santa Ana winds. That's why in the bottom you can kinda see the wind blowing my dress and my hair.

My favorite thing about spring and summer is wearing dresses because they are so easy to wear. I really like the gingham print on this dress and I got it on sale too. I love going to the sale section to look for clothes on sale, which is a good and a bad thing because sometimes I get things just because they are on sale but I'm trying to change that. But I do like a good sale, especially since I'm a girl on a budget.

I'm wearing wedges in the picture but it got pretty cold later on in the day so I switched them to boots but I didn't get a chance to take a picture with my boots on.

All you need is Love

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! It's been a very gloomy  weekend so I was happy I could wear my new sweater because it was cold enough and not the usual 80 degrees in California.

I got this sweater at Old Navy and it was on sale, I actually really wanted the other designs but I had to go with this one because it was the only one in my size. Has that ever happened to you, where you have to get the design just because it was in your size? I think the design of the sweater is growing on me and I'm starting to like it more. I really like this sweater because its really thin and it's great for when the weather isn't as hot.

Easter

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great Easter with their families. I had a nice day with my family. This is what I wore for Easter, sorry that I am squinting in my pictures these were taken early in the mourning before church and where I took the pictures is directly in front of the sun!

So this was the first time I tried sock curls for my hair, I see so many tutorials online and they seemed easy, so i gave it a try. I think they came out pretty well, I was really happy with them.

{Dress, necklace, watch: Target} {Sweater: Old Navy} {Shoes: Forever 21}

The dress I'm wearing is from Target and it's a Hello Kitty dress and if you know me you know I really love Hello Kitty. When I first saw this line at target I really loved it but at all the targets I went to they only ran up to a large size. Then I finally found this dress at one target and it was in XL and it looked really small for me but I decided to try it on anyways and I was so happy it fit. Except for the belt that came with the dress, I don't know why they make belts for clothes that wont fit the person wearing the clothes. But I actually was able to make the belt work because there are cutouts of Hello Kitty's on the belt and I was able to use that as the notch on the belt, and just like Tim Gunn says "Make it work!" I think it's great when something you didn't think would fit turns out to fit you, that just proves that you can't hold yourself back because of size.

Have a wonderful day ~Nina~
