Curves Around the World: Seasonal (Summer)

Hey Everyone!
It's the middle of the week, you know what that means? "Curves Around the World," and this weeks theme is Seasonal. If you have been following our group for awhile, you know we've done this theme before. But the last time we did this theme, it was Fall season for me and this season it's Summer!

Since it's summer her in California that means 80 to 90 degree weather or even higher. Today wasn't that bad it was in the mid 80's which is really good. So I thought to myself what outfit expresses Summer and for me summer usually means dresses and skirts but I wanted to challenge myself and I thought summer means swim suits. I bought this bathing suit aka fatkini last summer and never worn it. So I decided to make an outfit wearing it because I don't feel comfortable posting a picture of myself in just a bathing suit, so this is a big step for me.
{Kimono - Cotton On} {Swim suit & Skirt - Forever 21+}
So let me tell you that I have a pool but I haven't been in this pool in years. I have had friends over to swim but always made up an excuse so that I would not end up in the poop because I was never comfortable to be in a bathing suit. One of the reasons was because I am what you call the big girl of the group and it was always hard for me. But you know what I've been loving myself so much more this year and have been loving my body that I feel like this is the year I will not be afraid to go in the pool with my friends. I will wear the bathing suit and rock it! Will you be rocking a bathing suit this summer? If so will you be rocking a one or two piece?
So I've been looking for a kimono type coverup for the summer and was having a hard time finding a plus size one I could afford. So I tried a store that I don't usually shop at because I don't usually fit in the clothes there. But I thought since kimono type jackets usually run really big I might be able to fit in there large and I was happy that it actually fit me and it was on sale too! I really like the print and the fact that it's black and white is another plus. I actually was going to get a colorful one but I was drawn to the black and white one. Are you into the trend of the kimono type jacket?
So I hope this summer you will go out there and enjoy it, don't hold yourself back from having fun.

  7. Way to go Nina and I ADMIRE your courage! It is intimidating for me as well to rock my swimsuit amongst friends, but not intimidating to do so in a public place amid strangers! Oh and I bat for team 2 piece ;)

  9. If I were you, and it was that hot, I don't think you'd have an easy time removing me from the pool. I love swimming. And don't worry about your body, everyone's on the same page with one (or more) parts they don't like, best to just forget about it and have fun :)

  10. I LOVE that kimono..It looks great with how you styled it. I find with open styles like this you can get away with smaller sizes and they can still look great. Im trying to find a nice one at the moment, ideally the one you have here would be so perfect and of course that its black and white! :)

  11. That's so awesome that you're going to get in the pool this year! I'm not usually self-conscious about getting in the water, but I suppose I'm self-conscious in that I always look for full-coverage suits like tankinis and swimdresses. I feel more comfortable in them; plus I think swimdresses are cute. So I have the confidence to get in the water. Now I need to work on the confidence to wear something more fun that might not be as full-coverage. Your attitude is really inspiring, and it's awesome that you're owning your body and your bikini and wearing is despite previously being self-conscious. Like you (and Ms. Frank) said, ""You are Confined only by the Walls you build Yourself."

    1. Thanks Liz, yeah I would wear tankinis myself and then wear them with a tank top on top and then shorts on the bottom but then something happened to me and I was not comfortable even that way. But I think I needed to give myself a boost and hopefully I'll be rocking my two-piece a lot this summer! :)
