Hello Everyone! So I know this post is a bit late but I think the Holidays is a great reason to be a little late with posts. Plus our group "Curves Around the World" decided that we should skip this weeks post just because of the holiday. So I thought it's OK if i post this a bit late. But yeah I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and spending lots of time with loved ones. But yeah I can't believe 2013 is almost over, I'm kind of glad though, I'm looking forward to a better 2014! :)
So my family used to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve and open presents at midnight but since we have little kids in the family we now celebrate Christmas on Christmas. But I go with my parents to midnight mass. So you know what that means? I have two Christmas outfits to show you! :)
{Skirt & Jacket - Forever 21+} {top - Old Navy} {shoes - Ross}
So my first outfit is from Christmas eve and it's what I wore to midnight mass with my parents. So my mom wanted us to all wear red and I don't have a lot of red clothes, so when I was looking through my clothes I forgot about this faux leather skirt I got from Forever 21+. This skirt is very comfortable but let me tell you something, it did not go well with the church benches, every time I stood up and sat down they made squeaky noises. So half way through the mass I took my jacket off and used it to sit on so my skirt wouldn't make noises anymore. Now that I look back at it it's pretty funny, but I learned my lesson I can not wear leather to church. hehe :)
{Skirt - DIY} {top(dress) - Forever 21+} {shoes - Forever 21}
So this is my outfit for my family Christmas, sorry the picture was taken at the end of the say so my hair is has already fallen and I'm a bit shiny! hehe But yeah my inspiration for this outfit is a tutu, I've seen so many awesome bloggers that have worn beautiful tutu's and I've always dreamed of having one of my own. So I thought Christmas would be a great occasion to wear one. So for as long as I remember my mom has always made me something to wear for Christmas, so when she asked what I wanted her to make I told her I wanted a tutu. She actually didn't want to make it because she said "Tutu's are only for skinny girls, you will look fatter in one!" Well I didn't care and I wanted a tutu, so she made one not as fluffy as usual tutu's are and let me say I loved it. She didn't think it looked very nice on me and tried to tell me to change into something else but I've learned not to care too much of what people think, as long as I liked it and I felt good in it I'm going to wear it. Not to say I didn't hear a lot of my family tell me otherwise, but that's another story.
So when I got my skirt I actually didn't think of what I was going to wear with it, I actually wanted to wear a plaid shirt with a statement necklace. But shopping the day before Christmas was a little out of the question for me. So I tried on all my shirts and I couldn't find anything to go with the skirt. So I tried to think outside of the box and I saw this dress, and thought why not give it a try and I am so happy how it came out. So besides what other people said to me about my outfit, I was really happy with it and I love how it came out. So a little word of advice, no matter what anyone says, if you are happy and comfortable in something wear it, don't listen to any negative things people might say to you because you know what? You are beautiful! :)
oh one more thing...
Happy New Year Everyone!!!
Have a wonderful one and see you in 2014!

Thanks my dear! :)
DeleteThese two looks are adorable. I was so against wearing red or black this year because I feel like they're so typical, but I totally would have worn either of these outfits! I think I just lack imagination. lol The first one is such a great mix of edgy and feminine, something you do really well and that I'm resolving to experiment more with this year. I've been putting together outfit boards of edgier looks to prep myself.
ReplyDeleteYour second outfit = divine. I love the tutu; you know that! But again, it's not too twee. Just the right balance. :-)
Happy New Year!
Liz
