Curves Around the World: Stripes

Hey Everyone, I hope you are doing great! It feels like forever since I've blogged because I've been so busy with things at home. But I'm here for another "Curves Around the World" theme challenge and I have to say this has to be the hardest one that I've done so far. This weeks theme...Stripes!

Ok so I for as long as I can remember my mom has always told me not to wear stripes because it will make you look bigger and I have always had that in the back of my head. But since I've seen some great plus size bloggers wear stripes and look awesome, I decided to put some stripes in my wardrobe. I bought a few shirts but because in the back of my head I keep hearing my mom say don't wear stripes, I never reach for them. So yes I have a few stripped shirts in my closet that have never been worn and still have the tags on them. This being one of them, but since the theme was stripes I figure I might as well break the rules and push myself to wearing stripes.
Ok so this striped shirt here has to be one of my favorite striped shirts in my closet but it has never been worn. I got this on sale from forever 21+ and I loved how they it was a graphic black and white top that wasn't the usual stripes. But every time I thought of wearing it, I would try it on and didn't feel comfortable in it, so I would end up taking it off and putting it back in my closet. So I thought this would be a perfect top for the stripes theme.

So this is the outfit I came up with, I thought the top was too short because I like wearing longer tops so I put a longer tank underneath. I'm wearing another skirt my mom made for me, sorry for always wearing skirts my mom has made me but it's because 75% of the skirts in my closet are made by my mom. hehe But yeah I chose this red pencil skirt because I really like black and white with red so this being my other red skirt I thought it would be pair well. What do you think of the outfit?
So I tried to do my hair twists that I saw from ElleSees blog and I don't think it came out that great. I was trying to do something different with my hair because it's so out of control right now and I haven't had time to cut it. But yeah I just wanted to share it with you and you can click the link above and check out her twits looks, which are a lot better then mine! She has some great summer looks on her blog right now.

So now you go check out the other wonderful ladies from "Curves around the World" and check out their great Stripe outfits!

  3. Good for you for having a designer mom - id make her work on my projects all the time coz I have plenty of items id love to make from scratch. From this post I am sure you have proven that horizontal stripes are not really a bad thing esp if paired very well. You are creative, love how that tank top upgrades your outfit. Your killer legs are not going unnoticed - show them often :)

    1. Yes it's handy having a mom that can sew, she's made me lots of things, but too bad her sewing machine broke recently. But yeah it's very true stripes go well when paired well! :) Thanks Thulie, I dont know about my legs though! hehe

  7. Oh, the pattern is too cool! And I love how you paired it with that skirt.
Rules like that are a bit silly, actually. My favourite dress consists of horizontal stripes. You can rock whatever you want. :)

  10. I love the outfit! Stripes can be super flattering. I really love that the top has stripes going in different angles. It makes the top more interesting. Looks great with the red skirt. I love that your mom made it!! :-)
