My first RocksBox Review

Hello Friends!!!
Happy May everyone! I can't believe it's already May, the year is passing by way too fast. But yeah today's post is a little different, I'm doing a review of a new monthly Jewelry service called RocksBox. Rocksbox is a service that you pay for each month that loans you designer jewelry to wear that you can send back any time or you can purchase. The way they chose the jewelry for you is you take a survey and then they chose pieces that they think will fit your style.
So when I was asked by RocksBox to be an it girl and try their services, I thought it would be a great idea because I used to love jewelry but have recently been uninspired by the pieces I own. So I thought this would be a great idea to try because I'll get to try different pieces of jewelry and hopefully be inspired by them.
So I received my first around a week ago and I thought it was so cute. It had all 3 pieces that were chosen for me in individually wrapped bags which I thought was great to keep each piece in. It came with a cute little quote and rating card.
These were the 3 pieces I was given 2 necklaces and a pair of earrings.
Gojana marmont mini hoops.
Margaret Elizabeth small teardrop bezel necklace in labradorite
Gojana Bali tube small V necklace
So what I think first let me talk about the earrings, I love hoops but these were just too small. I actually don't ever wear stud type earrings so these weren't really my style. I actually like earrings that you can see on my ears because I feel like whats the purpose. I haven't really been wearing earrings much because I had an allergic reaction from wearing forever 21 type earrings. But I recently found out a trick to that I can do to wear fake earrings, you put Vaseline on them before you wear them, it's worked for me the few times I tried.
Next is this Margaret Elizabeth necklace, now the little tag it came with it says it's a layering necklace and I've been loving layering necklaces. But this necklace was so tight it was like a choker on me. I've come to realize being plus size doesn't just go for clothing it can go for jewelry as well.
Now this next necklace by Gojana was beautiful and it is also a layering necklace. But once again the necklace was way to tight for what I like and although it was a little longer then the other it was still too short for my own taste.
So overall I wasn't really happy with the first box I received and a lot of it has to be with the size. Now that is one of the biggest reasons I dislike buying clothes online and now I've experienced it with jewelry. But I still think I might have better luck with the next box, I just returned this one, so we will see and I'll have another review for you.

Even though I might not have had the best luck with my first box, if you would like to try out RocksBox for yourself you can enter the code "curvymodxoxo" and you can get the first month free.

Thanks for reading! Have you tried RocksBox before? How was your experience? Do you do any monthly servies?

XOXO ~ Nina ~

  2. I appreciate your honest review, Nina! I asked specifically for statement pieces because I knew daintier items like this just wouldn't work for me. I really do like the little hoops, but like you said, I want something people can see and admire from a distance. Also, I can't believe how short the necklaces are on you! That's crazy! Now I understand why Hailey had to use an extender with hers. While I appreciate her tip, I like things to work as-is, you know? Like you said, it's not only clothing that needs to come in plus sizes. Something jewelry and accessories need to be designed to accommodate larger bodies as well.

    1. Thanks Liz and yeas I totally agree with you that sometimes things like jewelry needs to be plus size as well. I add extenders to a lot of my necklaces but these were just too small and delicate to add the extender to it.

  3. Really cute pieces, but such a bummer that they were all too small. I hope the next box works out better!!
