The Classic Button up

Happy Friday Friends!!!
So today I'm working with a few other bloggers to bring you a post about an item that everyone has in their closet a white button up shirt and how to incorporate them into your spring wardrobe.
So Janeane from Designing from my Closet, approached me to do a post for spring and to style an outfit using a white button up, I thought it would be fun to do. I really enjoy working with other bloggers and see how they take the theme and interpret them. Looking above you can see we each styled the white button up differently and I love how each person styled the shirt.
A white button up is such a versatile piece that it can be worn each season and can be dressed up or down depending on where your going. When picturing how I would style my white button up I knew I wanted to do a bow. I have been wanting to wear something like this for awhile. I love how it adds a feminine touch to the button up.

Originally I was going to wear this outfit with a skirt because skirts are usually my go to piece in my outfit and I love the way they look with button ups. But I wanted to try something different and I saw these animal print pants and thought they would work with the button up and the ribbon.
So my white button up isn't the regular crisp shirt, it's kind of off white and a more softer material. I find these kind of button ups fit me better and are more comfortable to me. But yeah I decided to use a maroon ribbon for my bow because I figured it would be a nice color to tie everything together.
Do you like wearing button ups? How do you like to wear them?
Thanks for reading! Please check out the other ladies and see why they styled their button ups the way they did.

  1. I am happy you decided to go with pants for this post. I love how we have two skirt looks and two pant looks! I also enjoyed the fact that this is a more relaxed fabric and how it drapes. Super cute and I so enjoyed working with you on this post. We need to do this again sometime!

  2. What a fun challenge! I'm so uninspired when it comes to things like plain old button-ups, but you ladies definitely showcased the fashionable potential of such a staple item. I especially love your choice to use a ribbon tie at the neck. It's such a playful, feminine flourish that really elevates the outfit. Each of you created such a different silhouette and look, so I'd say it was a super successful outfit challenge!

    1. Thanks Liz, I really enjoyed the challenge. I like trying to do something different with plain things like button ups, so this was a fun challenge for me.

  3. I actually don't have a white button-down shirt!! I don't have a lot of button-downs because they never seem to fit in the chest properly (and then are always too long in the sleeves too). I really like how you styled your blouse. The ribbon tie is really cute!

    1. I actually don't really own one too, this isn't really a white it's kind of off white and not really the standard white button up so I cheated a little. But I have the same issue as you but I feel that the softer fabric and the slouchier silhouette help the shirt fit me better.
