Pinay Curvies...Something Old

Hello Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted, we decided to postpone our "Curves Around the World" post for this upcoming week and it was perfect for me because it took me a little longer to recover from Vegas plus I got a bit of cold. I'm still not feeling 100% yet but I'm getting there.

So for today's post is for Pinay Curvies theme for January and it's "Something Old." I wasn't sure what to wear because I'm the kind of person that doesn't really like throwing things away unless it doesn't fit me. So I have quite a few things in my wardrobe that you can consider old but I decided to pick out one of my older items that happens to be my favorite one as well.

So the item I chose was my forever 21+ jean jacket, or should I say Faith 21 because I got this jacket when it forever 21 first launched there plus line and it was called faith 21. So you know that it's pretty old because since they have expanded there line quite a bit and its called Forever 21+. But yeah it's one of my favorite items in my closet and I wear it a lot, you can tell because I've already featured this jacket a few times on my blog already. This jean jacket is so close to my heart because it was one of the jackets I had when I was living in the Philippines and I wore it a lot, so it has a lot of memories attached to it. You can also tell that my jacket has gone through a lot because it's faded and it's starting to tear in a few places but it's still good.
So I usually wear this jean jacket in the spring and summer and I haven't worn it in the fall or winter so I thought it would be a challenge to myself to create an outfit for the cooler weather. But actually right now in California it's been pretty warm, so I was happy that today it was a bit cooler. So when I was thinking of how to wear this denim jacket I was thinking how I always wear my faux leather jackets with denim, and I remembered that I have a pair of faux leather pants that I haven't worn yet. So that's how my outfit came together.
{Jacket, Tank & Pants - Forever 21+} {Scarf - H&M} {Shoes - Call it Spring}
So I decided to keep my whole outfit black to really highlight my jean jacket and also because I was in the mood to wear all black. But I did break up the black with my leopard print scarf. I like how my outfit came out even though I wanted to go for a more dressed up look and it came out more casual, I still like it.
Do you have a favorite "something old" item in your closet?

  1. I LOVE this look! It really fits with my casual style. It's also cool that the jacket has so many memories attached to it. I'm not usually very sentimental about my clothes...maybe because I don't have a lot of clothes that are very old (my weight has changed a lot over the last ten years due to having kids and other factors, so my wardrobe has changed with it). I'm always a fan of pairing all black with denim. The leopard scarf is the perfect finishing touch. You look great! :-)

  4. This is absolutely one of my favorite outfits on you, Nina! And that first picture of you is a perfect headshot or bio photo. You look ah-mazing! That denim jacket is definitely a keeper. And the great thing is, denim jackets handle wear and tear so well and still look amazing with a more "distressed" look. I also like that it has memories of a particular place attached to it. I definitely have a few pieces, jewelry mostly, that are precious mementos of someplace I've traveled or lived.

    And those matte leggings? Fabulous. The scarf? So rad. I love the whole. darn. thing.

    1. Thanks Liz and I agree denim jackets look better with a little wear and tear on them! :) Oh man I love jewelry, I wish I had some that was more sentimental, that's cool you have some from places you traveled. Oh by the way the pants are actually faux leather pants, I wasn't sure about them at first but they are actually very comfortable.
