Curves Around the World: Grunge

Hey Beauties!!!
I hope everyone is having an amazing week so far, I'm just waiting for the weekend to come because I'm off to Vegas this weekend. I can't wait to get away for a the weekend with my friends it's been awhile since this happened.
It's that time of the week again for another "Curves Around the World" theme and this weeks theme is Grunge! Now "Grunge" really isn't my type of style but I thought it was a great challenge for me to be creative with the clothes I have to create a grunge look plus step out of my comfort zone a little. So when I think of grunge I think of the 90's and I grew up in the 90's but I wasn't really into grunge, I was a teenybopper, the one with posters all over the walls, yeah that was me! But I do remember the grunge fashion from that time, I remember band tee's, flannel shirts, and ripped jeans. I tried my best to make this style my own.
So I don't own any band tee's so I thought maybe I could use this graphic tee for my version because I think it fit well with the theme. I wanted to wear a beanie but I couldn't find it so I decided to wear another hat that I crocheted but now that I look at the pictures it might not have been a great idea for this theme.
{Top - H&M} {Skirt - I heart Ronson} {Jacket - Thrifted} {Hat - DIY}
So with my shirt I paired it with a faux leather skater skirt, I originally wanted to wear the same skirt I used last week but I didn't want to wear the same skirt two weeks in a row, so I thought this skirt was a good alternative. I'm also wearing a member's only jacket which is more of an 80's thing but most of my jackets I don't think would go with the theme. I'm not sure it really fits but I like it together.
To finish off the outfit I put on some old stockings, they have a few rips which I think adds to the grunge but you can't really see the rips too much but they are there. Also I wore my chucks or converse to finish off the look, and let me tell you I haven't worn these shoes in a really long time. The thing is I used to wear converse all the time, actually they were the only shoes I wore in high school and through most of college. I wasn't a big shoe person, I was the girl that wore converse to prom and to the clubs. But when I got more into fashion I decided to put away the converse and try new kinds of shoes, so yeah this pair hasn't been worn for almost 3 years, yeah I know that's a long time. I forgot how comfortable they were and how much I miss wearing them, so I might just wear these more often.
I don't think my look is all out grunge because it really isn't me but there are bits and pieces in there, that make this look grunge with me in there. How do you think I did with this weeks theme? What do you think about the Grunge style?

    1. You could totally wear stockings with black shorts, I think you would look super cute! You should go to SM and buy some! I used to wear stockings almost everyday when I was in school in the Philippines, so I'm very used to wearing them all the time. :)

  5. I'm not sure this is super grunge, but I think it's a cute look. You definitely added some grunge touches liked the ripped stocking and Converse sneakers. I used to wear those a lot too! The beanie also fits in well with the grunge theme.

    I think a flannel top and jean jacket would have been great with the skirt, but I love that you kept yourself in the look. I think that if we are going to wear any trend, we should make it our own by adding our own style and personal touches into the mix.

    1. Thanks Cassie, yeah I like the trend but I don't think I could pull off a whole grunge look because it isn't really me. I was going for the little touches of grunge in the outfit and I totally agree that you should mix it with your own style! :)

  7. Ha! I was a teeny bopper, too. I listened to some grunge music, but it just wasn't my scene. I don't think I even had a scene yet. I listened to Hanson and boy bands. And I also loved Alanis Morrissette, and that made me feel cool. I think it's funny that you called yourself a teeny bopper and are wearing a Mickey t-shirt in a grunge challenge. It's like you're doing the challenge but also giving a nod to the era and how you were a little younger and more playful than the grunge scene that was taking place simultaneously. Teeny bopper or grunge, the look is cute regardless.

    1. Thanks Liz, yeah I liked Alanis Morrissette too and I totally agree I don't really think I had a scene yet because I wasn't really sure of myself at that time. But yeah I tried to keep my in the look but add some grunge touches. :)
