Curves Around the World: Statement Necklace

Hello Everyone! It's that time of the week again, hump day the middle of the week when everyone is ready for the weekend. It's also time for the 3rd Curves Around the World Challenge! I'm excited for this one because if you follow my blog I always write about how I love accessories because they are one of my favorite things ever. So this weeks challenge is statement necklaces, how exciting is that.

Last week's challenge was Lace and here is a recap of all the wonderful outfits that the lovely ladies from Curves Around the World came up with. They all look great, don't you think. Be sure to check out there outfit for this weeks theme, I'm sure they all put together some wonderful outfits!

Kate from Australia - Sparkles and Lace
Laura from Canada - Lavish Laura
Helen from England - Everyone Should Sparkle
Thulie from South Africa - Thick fit and Fabulous

{Top|Old Navy} {skirt|made by Mom} {shoes|Forever21}
I kept my outfit very simple especially my top because I wanted my necklace to stand out. So I decided to wear a plain black top so all the focus would be on my necklaces. I paired the top with a black tribal print skirt that my mom had made for me because I love the print on the skirt and it's very comfortable. Plus the day was a little warm so I needed something that was a little lighter to keep me cool throughout the day.
So when I saw that this weeks challenge was a statement necklace, I wasn't sure what to wear because I have a have a few different statement necklaces. So when I was choosing which one to wear I decided to stack two statement necklaces together, I figured why not double the statement pieces to make it extra special.

Here is closer picture of the necklaces together. The top necklace is from Burlington Coat Factory, they have some great statement necklaces there. I actually saw this necklace on the mannequin and it was the only one left so they let me get one on display.
The picture above is of my bottom necklace I wanted to show you a picture of it alone because I love this necklace. If you remember my post where I was wearing an orange shirt and another statement necklace I mentioned it was a 2 for $5 deal and this is the other necklace that I got. Plus I know I just wrote about loving art deco and this necklace reminds me of trend!

Which way do you think looks better the necklaces stacked or by itself?

Now don't forget to check out the other ladies and there wonderful statement necklaces! Just click on there links at the top of the page and don't forget to tell them how great they look! :)

Have a wonderful rest of the week! ~Nina~

Colorful Tribal Print

Happy Monday Everyone, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I have a great and busy weekend. The weather here in California is so crazy, this weekend it was in the 100's and right now its so gloomy and it's raining outside.

This is the outfit I wore to my friends baby shower on Saturday. It was really hot outside, like I said it was in the 100's where I lived but I knew where I was going it might be a little cooler. So I wore this kinda like tribal print dress. I really like this dress because it's colorful and I love the design on it as well. My only problem with this dress is it had buttons going down the whole dress and the buttons were popping out in some area's so I put small safety pins in the area's I was afraid might pop open. I learned that from one of the bloggers that I follow and I think it worked great, I had no problems with my dress that day. :)

{dress | Target} {sweater | Forever 21} {shoes | Aldo} {bracelets | Multiple places}

I really wanted to wear sandals with the dress but I'm still on a hunt for a great summer sandal that I can wear with everything. So I decided to pair my black oxfords with the dress. I love this shoes because they are so comfortable. These were actually my school shoes when I went to school in the Philippines. See I had to buy black flats and the sizes in the Philippines didn't fit me because I have wide feet and there sizes run really small, I know you can't really tell in the photo's though but my feet are big. So I went to so many different places in search for school shoes but nothing fit. So I decided to go to a brand that had American sizes that I knew would fit me and that was Aldo, and I fell in love with these oxfords when I saw them. I haven't really worn them since I got back from the Philippines, so I'm really starting to love them again!

Oh and this yellow sweater is from forever 21 not forever 21+, I got it awhile ago and before honestly I hated going to forever 21 because clothes never fit me but I would go with my mom because yeah she wears clothes from forever 21. At the time I was looking for something to wear with a dress for an occasion and I would have never thought to look at forever 21 because back then they didn't have the faith line or the forever 21+ line at the store near me. But while my mom was browsing she store she found this sweater and said it looked like it would fit me and at first I didn't want to try it on because I thought oh it wont fit me. But my mom convinced me to just try it on and I was so surprised that it fit. It just goes to show that you can't let sizes intimidate you, just try things on and you never know it might fit you. :)

Have a wonderful day everyone! ~ Nina ~

LA day

Hey everyone! So I had a little trip to LA with some of my friends recently, it was nice to go to LA because I haven't been there in awhile. I went with a friend that had to do something there, so we made it a little LA day with friends.

Our first stop was the Grove, This is where all my pictures where taken because it was such a nice day. Thank you to my friends that took my pictures, I'm really thankful that they are so supportive of me doing this blog. On another note this picture to the right was taken of me next to the trolley that goes around the Grove. It was stopped to pick up some passengers and my friends that it would be nice for me to take pictures in front of it. I was hesitant but they convinced me to do it and we had to do it fast because they were almost done loading all the passengers. Here is one of the pictures we took and although I liked the others I think this was the best one that was taken. I especially like how you can see my necklace, I just got it recently. It was from the swap-meet and I know not a lot of people don't think of shopping at swap-meets but I think they are great places to find unique and cheap things. I think of them as smaller versions of flea markets.

{tank & sweater: Old Navy} {skirt: made it} {shoes: LoveD} {necklace:swapmeet} {tights:target}

It was a really nice day in LA, the sun was shining but it was a little bit chilly because the wind was blowing. I'm glad I wore some tights, although I'm not sure about the color of tights I chose they helped keep me warm.

Here's a picture of me and my friends, they are the ones that helped me take the pictures. Thanks for your help girls! :) Right behind us they had picture taking with the Easter bunny and we really wanted to take some but the line was so long that we decided not to.

We ended our LA day trying a place called MILK there known for there macron ice cream sandwiches. But by the time we got there they were almost all out of the sandwiches so my friends opted for ice cream but since I really wanted to try what they are known for I got the coffee toffee ice cream sandwich and let me tell you it was pretty yummy! :)

Have a wonderful day ~ Nina ~

Tribal Print

"I intend to accept my body today, Love my body tomorrow
and appreciate my body always! (no matter what size)"

Hey Friends! So today was a warm day here in California. So i decided to wear a nice flowy dress and to be honest this isn't my complete outfit. I actually wore the jean jacket i wore in my last outfit post but i decided since i wore that in the last post i would take a picture without it on. Which brings me to the quote above, I have always been uncomfortable with showing my arms. But I have been inspired by so many body acceptance blogs and things I've read on the web that i decided I shouldn't be ashamed of my body and just let my arms show. So this summer i'm going to start showing off my arms and not wear long sleeve jackets when it's 100 degrees outside. But of coarse i gotta start off slowly and this is my first step! :)

So my dress has a little story and it goes like this, I used to see nice printed hi-low dresses at forever 21 but they never had them in the plus sized line and I don't fit in the regular forever 21 line. So I looked at other places and I could only find plain hi-low dresses in single colors and no prints. So I decided to make my own and this is the result, a tribal print hi-low dress. Its kinda big so that's why I put a belt, and i got the belt from a friend. Well that's my outfit of the day! I hope you're all having a wonderful day! ~ Nina
