So I know I've been a little MIA recently but I had family issues that I had to take care of. But I'm back and I'm catching up on some of my "Curves Around the World" posts. Today's blog is the theme from last week and all about being inspired by a certain designer. So for me I was inspired by Kate Spades Spring 2015 ready to wear runway.

Right now Los Angeles is going through a heat wave and we are in the 90's right now, so layers isn't something you think about when it's hot. But their are ways to layer when it's hot outside and I tried one way today on the blog.

I can't believe it's already August but I'm happy July is over because it was just crazy for me. But I'm back and should be getting back to responding to comments and visiting other blogs soon! But yeah this week's theme is "Day to Night" and I love the idea of transitioning outfits from day to night. I decided to use one outfit and change some of my accessories to create another the other look.

I love scarfs, I think they can be worn in so many different ways and they can transform an outfit plus they can also help keep you warm when it's cold.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day, Spring is almost here! Well technically here in California it feels like we skipped Spring and went straight to summer because the temperatures are already in the 80's. 

Curves Around the World: Peplum

Hello Beauties!!! 

So it's the the middle of the week again and you all know what that means...Another "Curves Around the World" themed post. This week's theme is "Peplum," well let me tell you a little secret, I don't like peplums. Well it's not that I don't like them, it's more I don't like how they look on me. I've tried so many on within the few years that it's been in style but have always hated the way it looked on me. But that doesn't mean I wasn't going to do this theme, I decided once again to step out of my comfort zone and try once again. 

Like I said above I am not a big fan of peplums on myself, so that means I didn't have one to use for this theme, so that means I had to go shopping. I tried a few on and once again I didn't like how they looked on me, but I finally saw this one at Jcpenny. By the way if you haven't been to Jcpenny's they have really cute brands like I heart Ronson, Nicole by Nicole Miller and Bisou Bisou(mines Bisou Bisou). But yeah I decided not to try it on because I thought I might not like it so I decided to take a risk and just buy it. What attracted me to the top was that it was black and white and you all know I love black and white and plus it was on sale with an extra percent off.

So today when I put on the top I kind of like it, but I'm really sure. I'm actually thinking I might return the top because I'm not sure if I really like it. That's one thing I'm trying to do when I shop, buying things that I really love because I have so many things in my closet that I buy just because and I end up never wearing it.

But yeah what do you think, should I keep the peplum or return it? 

So I wanted to show a close up of this necklace that I got from H&M for only $2.50 it was from one of those sales where you get an extra 50% off from the already reduced price, I love those kind of sales. But yeah I have been wanting to wear this necklace and I thought it would go really well with this top. I really fell in love with this necklace when I saw it and I love the pops of color. 

So changing subjects, today when I was getting ready to take these pictures I reached for a sweater and your probably thinking so? But it's actually in the 80's here in California and it's hot. But I've been so used to covering my arms that today thinking of showing my arms again kind of brought me back to when I was so uncomfortable to showing them off and the sweater is like my safety blanket. But then I had to remind myself of how far I've come with loving myself and as you can see I didn't wear my sweater. I just remind you if your like me and it took a long time for you to love yourself that you can have some moments you forget but you just need to remind yourself that you are Beautiful! Sorry for the small little side story but I thought I would share if someone that follows me happens to read this and has ever felt the same way. Remember loving yourself can be a tough journey but you can do it! :)

Curves Around the World: Monochrome

Hello Lovelies!!! Can you believe it's March already? I can't believe how fast everything is going by. But yeah I hope everyone is enjoying March so far! But yeah it's the middle of the week and another Challenge for "Curves Around the World!" This week's theme is Monochrome, now if you've been following my blog you know that I wear a lot of black and white outfits. So instead of doing black and white I decided to challenge myself and do a monochromatic look which is like monochrome but with color. 

What is Monochromatic? 

According to the dictionary Monochromatic refers to a single hue in a color palette that is expanded upoon by adding tint variants (lightness and saturation) of that color to create a more balance look.

So for this weeks theme I created two different looks to show off different ways you can pull off a monochromatic look without using the usual black and white. I have to admit I wasn't sure about using different colors because black and white are my comfort zone but I really wanted to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone and these are the two outfits I came up with. I came up with a grey outfit which isn't too far from black and white and a coral outfit to show more color. In this week's post I'm going to give you a few tips to consider when putting together a monochromatic look.

• Look for contrasting colors within the same hue. Mix and match bold colors with more understated ones. For example in the outfit above I used a darker grey and a lighter one. 
• Create contrast with textures, textured fabrics can add more visuals with your outfit. You can break up a simple color scheme by mixing and matching different textiles. For example, above I played with textures by using lace to change the textures of my outfit. 
• For plus size girls like myself you can balance your proportions by choosing the right colors if it's more comfortable to you. You can use darker colors for area's you might want to cover up and lighter on the others. For example, I don't like my arms and the top area of my body so I chose to use a darker color compared to the bottom which is much lighter. 

• Accent with Accessories, you can add accessories that add pops of color to your outfit. This is just to help add another element to your outfit. For example in the outfit above I added a gold necklace with pops of blue because I felt it added to the outfit.
• Use prints, using prints in your outfit can be an easy way to add multiple shades of color in your outfit. Then with your print you can add a coordinating solid to make your outfit complete. Now I didn't try this method in any of my outfits but I have seen this done and its an easy way to do a monochromatic look. 
• Lastly take risks, have fun and be confident. Monochromatic doesn't have to be the same black and white, just have fun with it.

Curves Around the World: Boho Chic

Hello Lovelies!!!

I hope everyone is doing great! Well it's the middle of the week and you know that means "Curves Around the World!" These theme's seem to be going by so fast but I still enjoy them just like I did when I first started. Well this week's theme is "Boho Chic," or you can call it Bohemian. I love the style but it's something that I wasn't sure I could pull off. 

When I think of Boho style, their are great celebrities to look to for inspiration like Vanessa Hudgens, the Olsen twins, and Nicole Richie. But this weekend I found inspiration from my cousin Nicole who came to visit this weekend, her style just screams boho chic. My outfit is inspired by one of the outfits she wore last weekend but with my twist to it of coarse. So when I saw my cousin this weekend she was wearing a flowy maxi and a flowy top with a fitted jacket. So I took that as my inspiration for my outfit, my cousin was wearing black and white but to make the look my own I decided to wear more neutral colors.

The white top I'm wearing is the same top I wore when I wrote about festival style post which I think goes with the theme because when you think of Boho style you think of what people wear to music festivals like Coachella. I love this top for summer because it's so light and flowy. Which I think pairs really well with the maxi skirt which is also pretty light and flowy. I think my chambray top really pulls the outfit together because it's fitted compared to the others that are flowy. 

Another thing that I think of when I think of Boho is the jewelry, usually they have layers of jewelry but I decided to keep it a little more simple with stacks of silver bracelets and a simple long necklace.

Curves Around the World: Neon

Hello Hello Hello!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. So it's the middle of the week, you know what that means..."Curves Around the World" post. This week's post is something very bright,"Neon!" I am not really a big neon person, but when I looked at my closet to try to find something I realized that I had a few things I could use. 

So when I looked in my closet, I saw the shirt above, it might not looks very neon but when you see it in person it really looks like a highlighter, trust me. I actually bought this top thinking it was the color you see in the picture but when I got home and saw it in natural light I realized it was a neon orange color. I wanted to return it but I got it on sale, but I'm glad I didn't because it was perfect for this weeks challenge.

When I saw how bright the top was, I knew I had to wear it with something neutral but I didn't want to wear something plain, so I chose my polka dot skirt. If you've been following my blog awhile you know that I really like black and white, so when I think of the bright orange top I couldn't think of anything better then black and white to go with it. I think if it was spring or summer I might try to color block this top with another color. But since it's technically still winter I like it with black and white. 

So I really love boots and these are one of my favorites at the moment. I bought these randomly at Ross, I didn't want to get them at first because I have enough boots but I'm really glad I did because I've been wearing these a lot lately. Oh I'm trying to take different photo's for my blog like this picture of my shoes, so hopefully you like them. What do you think of the close ups of certain parts of my outfit? 

Now that's my neon outfit for today's challenge. Now how do you feel about neon? What do you like wearing neon with?

Curves Around the World: Timeless

Hello Lovelies!!! 

Well it's that time again for another theme from "Curves Around the World!" This weeks theme is..."Timeless," so this theme kind of left me a little stumped because I had certain styles in my mind but I didn't know how to translate it into my style. When I think of timeless I think of Carolina Herrera and Audrey Hepburn but this theme made me realize my lack of the basics in my closet. But I didn't want to go out and buy something, so my challenge was to create a look from the clothes that I already had.

 

So I searched "Timeless Fashion" on pinterest and I saw a list that is similar to the one above which had about 9 different things but I decided to redo it with the ones that I really liked and used it as my guide for this challenge. These are my favorite points from the original list and I feel these are great points to Timeless fashion. The two that I really used when choosing my outfit was "Keep choices simple" and "Be yourself." 

So when I thought to myself about "Timeless," the first thing I thought was Black and white! Black and white is something that never goes out of fashion and is timeless. So when I looked to through my wardrobe I thought why not wear something that is more casual then dressy. So I chose black legging and a black and white stripped tank with a black sweater. Something really simple and something that is really me at the same time, the two things I wanted to focus on from the list.

Although I wanted a more casual outfit I did accessorize the outfit a bit to make it a little bit more dressed up. I paired my casual outfit with heels and pearls, that I feel are both timeless items. I borrowed my mom's peal earrings and used my faux peal necklace as a bracelet.

Curves Around the World: Collars

Hello Everyone! 

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! It's the middle of the week and you know what that means..."Curves Around the World" post!!! This weeks theme is..."Collars." I think collars can be so fun whether they are attached or added on.

So I really wanted to do a fun collar, but I don't really own fun collars. But I remembered that I bought some collar clips from Forever 21 awhile back that I haven't worn before and thought they would go great for this challenge. I actually thought they were sweater clips when I saw them because I've always wanted sweater clips after I saw the councilor from Glee wearing them. So I got it without even reading the package, so when I realized it was for collars I decided to try it with a sweater but It was too long to work for one, so I was disappointed about it. But I totally forgot about it until this challenge and I thought it would be a great way to dress up my collar.

I decided to pair my top with jeans because I realized I wear a lot of skirts and dresses on the blog and I wanted to change it up a bit. I really do wear skirts and dresses a lot but I do wear jeans quite a bit too. But yeah I love the color of these jeans, they are like an emerald green but I don't think the color translates that well in the pictures. I actually bought these jeans last year when the pantone color of the year was emerald because I really wanted something that color and this was the first thing that I saw in the color that fit me. The jeans are from the Target plus line and I used to think they had some cute things but recently there plus size line isn't that great. Have any of you shopped the Target plus line?
