Curves Around the World: Girls Night Out

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I am loving the weather in California right now, it finally decided to get cold enough for sweaters and jackets! I love when the weather is cold, but not too cold.
navabi Curvy Blog Award 2013
Oh and I have some fun news, I was nominated for the Navabi Curvy Blog Award. I'm really honored to be considered because there are so many great blogs on there that are nominated. I don't even know how I got included on the list but I feel so honored to be part of it. So yeah if you would like to support me and some other bloggers you can vote only once but you can vote for as many bloggers you want. I know I already voted for some of my favorites! :) You can click the link above to vote, I'm number #295!!!
Well it's the middle of the week and you know what that means, Curves Around the World post! :) This weeks theme is Girls night out and I honestly my friends and I don't really go out that much. Our girls night out is usually a night in at someones place where we watch a movie, eat and drink wine! But there are rare occasions that we go out and we actually did go out this past weekend, but I was dressed as a zombie and I didn't think that would count because I was in costume. hehe
So this is my go to girls night out outfit, a dress with a jacket and boots! Actually this dress has been in my closet for awhile and I have never worn it before. If you have followed my blog for awhile you probably heard that a lot, I have a lot of things in my closet that I always tell myself I will wear that when I am more confident or when have courage to wear it. And this is one of those items because it's a body-con dress, its a light color, and it has lots and lots of horizontal lines. But when I was looking through my closet for this outfit, I told myself it's time to wear it. And you know what I've noticed that I have a lot more confidence and self love for myself right now then I've ever had before and I really think it's because of this blog. Do you have something in your closet that you really like but never wear?
{Jacket-Forever 21+} {Dress & Shoes-Target} {necklace-Philippines}
So here it is, I decided to wear the dress and I paired with my forever 21+ jacket that I got for $18 dollars. I have a feeling this will be my go to jacket this fall and winter, so you might see it a lot on here. Oh and these boots I'm wearing are old but I just love them, I tried to take a close up picture of them but they didn't come out. But they have this button detail on the side of them, and I remember when I saw these I knew I wanted them and they have been one of my favorite pairs of boots for a few years. I hope they don't break, I will be so sad! Do you have shoes that you would be so sad if they broke? I actually have a few pairs myself! hehe :)

Curves Around the World: Crop Top

Hello Everyone! I hope your all doing great!

It's the middle of the week and you know what that means, "Curves Around the World" time! This weeks theme is "Crop top" and this is something I've tried before but it's fall time and it's actually starting to get cold over here in California. Well today was colder then the begging of the week which was in the 80's! But I figure this would be a good time to show you how you can rock the crop top trend in fall.
So since it was a cooler day I thought about wearing a long sleeve top to keep myself warmer and you can also roll the sleeves like I did because it became a little warmer during the day. Oh and let me tell you a little secret, I don't actually have a long sleeve crop top so what I did was fold a shirt that I have to give it the crop top look. I've seen some great looks using long sleeve crop tops and also sweatshirts that are crop tops but I haven't found such an item that runs in plus sizes. So I thought might as well do it myself which led me to fold a shirt I already own.  What do you think of Crop tops?
{top-Old Navy} {skirt-Target} {shoes-Ross} {necklace-Forever 21}
It still surprises me that I am wearing a crop top because if you would have told me this last time last year to put on a crop top and rock it, I would totally laugh at you. I used to be so uncomfortable with myself that I would hate wearing tank tops or anything that showed my arms so that fact that I am showing off my stomach is a big thing for me. But I am proud of how far I've come with my confidence within myself as well as me challenging myself in fashion. Do you like challenging yourself?
So I just want to say sorry for the sun spots in my photos, I didn't realize it until I saw my pictures on the computer and it was too dark to retake them. But in other note, I am so happy to wear boots again. I just found these boots at Ross and I think they are great short boots. You will be seeing me wearing boots in a lot of upcoming posts because they are my favorite things to wear in fall and winter. What are your favorite kind of shoes to wear?

ModCloth's Uniquely You

Hello Hello Everyone!
So a few weeks ago I received an email from Amy a ModStlyest from ModCloth to do participate in there Uniquely you campaign and all you had to do to participate was create an outfit with a certain ModCloth item on Polyvore. I'm sure you'll see different bloggers that are participating in this. I was just so happy to be asked that I couldn't wait to create something.
Lady In Red

So this mourning when I checked my email, I was happy to see they sent me the first item to style. I immediately went to the website to check out the dress and the details. I was so happy to see that this dress runs in plus sizes, it's such a beautiful dress. I know I could style it so many ways, I actually did a few different looks, but the one above is the one I chose because I really liked the elegant feel of the outfit. I wasn't sure if we could post more then one or not. But I had a lot of fun styling the different looks with this dress. What to you think of the outfit I chose?

So I haven't done a Polyvore post in awhile but I have to say I really like Polyvore because it's like playing dress up in a way without having to actually pay for anything! I don't know about you but I used to love playing with the computer game where you created people and dressed them up in different outfits. But yeah if your like me, you love fashion but don't have the budget, it's so much fun to come up with different outfits and styles that don't cost anything to put together. But don't get me wrong there's nothing like creating real outfits but I just saying this is a good way to get inspired. It's because I've been a little uninspired lately, especially with my closet, so putting this outfit together has really inspired me in a fashion way. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Curves Around the World: Pink

Hello everyone! I hope your having a great week so far, I can't believe how fast October is going but I'm enjoying the weather slowly cooling down.
As you might already know it's that time again for another "Curves Around the World" post and I was really excited for this weeks theme because it's a theme with a purpose. This week's theme is "Pink" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month!

Breast Cancer is something that affects everyone, it can happen to a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, or friend. According to nationalbreastcancer.org 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and that's a very small ratio. So that means someone in your life will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
For me it's my auntie Amy, she was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and had a mastectomy on one of her breast and has been cancer free since. She is a special person in my life because I think of her as my second mom. She is also the one person who always made me feel good about myself, she never hesitates to tell me I'm beautiful and she always compliments me on my outfits when ever I see her. I think she is the one person who believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself. That's why I dedicate this post to my Aunt! :)
I honestly wanted to find a breast cancer awareness t-shirt but for some reason I couldn't find one. I went to several stores and didn't find anything, I couldn't even find a pin. I did find water bottles, hats, socks, sweatbands, and headbands, all of which wouldn't fit into an outfit. So I decided to just go pink with my outfit, I'm wearing a pink sweater, pink makeup and I'm also wearing earrings that have pink bows on them.
{earrings | Tarina Tarentino}
You can't really tell but the bow is a baby pink, the colors don't show too well in the picture. I just had to show a shot of the earrings because they are just too pretty not to! :)
{top & sweater| old navy} {skirt |made by mom} {boots| target}
Since the weather is starting to cool down that means I can start to do light layers and I get to take out the boots. I love wearing boots so I was excited to start taking them out to wear and since they are short boots there not too bad in the warmer weather because I'm not going to lie it was in the high 70's and low 80's this day. So I actually ended up changing my top to a tank top afterwards because the weather. But I'm so ready for the cooler weather, I hope it comes soon!
I tried to take a closer picture to show my pink makeup but it doesn't really show up. I tried for the first time using a pink eye shadow but it didn't really show up. But yeah I am really happy with the way my outfit came out even though I wasn't able to get any breast cancer awareness gear.

Now if you want to learn more about breast cancer please check out the websites below and learn more about it and see how you can help as well.

Curves Around the World: Recap of the past 20 themes

Hey Everyone, I hope your having a wonderful weekend so far! It's a beautiful weekend so far here in SoCal! I love how it's not too hot or too cold right now!
But yeah I thought it would be great to do a little recap of all my "Curves Around the World" posts since this past week was the 20th themed post. I've been wanting to do recaps but for some reason it doesn't fallow through. But I decided it would be a great time to do it now.
When we started I was so excited to challenge myself and push myself to wear things I would not normally wear. With the first 5 challenges I really challenged myself by trying a maxi dress that I've never worn before and wearing stripes that I have always tried not wearing because I was told not to wear. I have to say after trying both a maxi and stripes, I truly embraced them and I bought a few other pieces for my wardrobe and I'm so happy to have stepped out of my comfort zone within the first 5 themes!
With the next 5 theme's I tried to challenge myself within the themes because a few of the themes were things that I wear normally so I tried to go outside of my comfort zone within those themes. For example with week 9 we were suppose to wear a date night outfit and you could wear so many things with that theme but I challenged myself to wear a bodycon dress. I own a bodycon dress but never wore it because I didn't like wearing it because it hugged your body and you could see everything, but I learned to love my stomach.
Within the next few challenges, I have to say that week 15 was a big one for me because I am not wearing a jacket, showing my arms, I'm wearing a pencil skirt that is tight, and I'm wearing a crop top that shows part of my stomach. This was a big thing for me because it really pushed me out of so many of my comfort zones. But I have to say I am really happy with how the outfit came out and I'm glad I wore it.
I think within the last few themes we've done one of my favorites was theme 16 which was vintage. It was actually one of the themes I was scared for because I didn't know what to do or what I wanted to wear but I am really happy with the way it came out.
What have I learned?
Doing "Curves Around the World" has been such a great experience so far, it has not only challenged me personally and fashionably. It has also inspired me with all the lovely ladies that have participated in the group. They are all such great women who all have great styles which I admire and they are all great individuals with great personalities as well. Blogging is something that I like to keep to myself and I don't like to share with everyone but it's been great having these ladies to talk to about blogging because I can see they all have there passion for it. I am so glad to be part of such a wonderful group of Curvy ladies, I'm so thankful to be part of such a great group of Ladies!

I am still learning to love myself but I think we all have good and bad days but I have learned to just put my fears and insecurities away most days and love who I am. And by loving myself more I have learned to push myself outside of my comfort zones and be able to dress more the way I've always wanted to dress but never thought I could because I've always put those boundaries on myself. I can't wait to see what outfits come out of the future challenges that we have for you!

So now that the weather is changing, so is the fashion and I'm excited to see what everyone will come up with. So I hope you continue to support me and the other wonderful ladies from "Curves Around the World!"

Curves Around the World: Maxi

Hello Lovelies! I am so sorry for being a little MIA this past month but I'm back and feel much better. I still have somewhat of a cold but that's better then what I was feeling last week, which is great. Thanks for everyone that said to get better! I know I have a lot of blogs to catch up on, I will be doing that throughout this week!
But yeah it is that time again for another "Curves Around the World" theme and I can't believe this is already the 20th theme with this group. I am so glad to be part of this group. I think I will be doing a round up of the past challenges soon. But yeah this week's theme is Maxi and this is something I would not have tried because I thought I was too short to pull it off. But because of this blog I decided to challenge myself and I tried a Maxi dress and a skirt. So since the two Maxi's that I own both were already worn on this blog, I decided to get another one.
So I was able to find this at a small store near my house that I'm not sure what it's called but I just stopped by because it had a sign that said it carried plus sizes, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to go in and look. I was surprised they had a variety of different clothes and the prices were really good too. When I was looking through the different maxi skirts I decided to get this one because it's black and white, which I love and it has stripes which is something that I've grown to love as well.  What do you think of the skirt?
So you probably can't tell that this skirt is actually suppose to be a mindi skirt and suppose to be around the calves when worn correctly. But since I'm a short, I pulled it down to my hips and it becomes a maxi for me, but if I pull it to my waist the length is around my ankle. So this skirt is one of those make it work things, plus it has pockets, I think that's why I chose this skirt.

The weather has been cooler but still pretty warm, that's why I decided to wear a vest instead of a sweater but I did switch to a sweater later that night. I decided to accessories minimally with my scarf and a pop of animal print with my shoes because why not! :) How do you like to wear your Maxi's? Are maxi's your thing? I would love to know! :)

Curves Around the World: Sequins

Hello Lovelies, I can't believe it's already October, where has this year gone? Well I hope you are all having a great week so far. As for me I've been sick in bed for the past few days. But I forced myself to get out of bed to write this post because I didn't want to let the girls from "Curves around the World" down.
So like I said above it's that time again for another "Curves Around the World" theme and this week's theme is "Sequins" I don't own very many items that are sequins so this was a big challenge for me because I wasn't sure what to do with it because I don't wear sequins on a daily basis and I didn't really have a place to wear sequins out this weekend. So I decided to go for a more everyday kind of look or a more casual approach to sequins.
So to make my outfit more casual, I decided to pair my sequins top with jeans! This is something that I would wear on a girls night out with friends to happy hour. The thing I like about this top is that even though it's sequins it's not too shiny and loud that says here I here I am. Don't get me wrong I like shiny sequins but it can be too much for a casual outfit or just a simple night out with the girls.
{Top|Old Navy} {Jeans|Forever 21+} {Shoes|Target} {Clutch|Steve Madden}
So I paired my outfit with some heels and a clutch to complete the outfit. I would usually wear a blazer or jacket with this outfit but it was hot that day, were still in the 90's here in California. Even though at night it's starting to cool down, it's pretty hot during the day. That's probably why I got sick. Since I'm starting to feel sick right now, I'm going to cut this post short. Sorry everyone, I promise when I feel better I will write more posts, I know I slacked a little this past month but I will back at it once my sickness goes away, I have a few things planned.

Now don't forget to check out the other wonderful ladies from "Curves Around the World!" and don't forget to show them some love.
