Curves Around the World: Monochrome

Hello my Dears! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far. I know it's only the beginning so if your not having a good week so far I hope the rest of your week goes by great! :) Well it's that time again for another "Curves Around the World" post and this weeks theme is one of my favorites...Monochrome or Black and White
This weeks trend was originally Black and White but we decided to make it Monochrome since they are practically the same thing. I absolutely love this trend, it's one of my favorites just because I think it's so classic and it's always on trend.
Since the theme is monochrome I thought it would be a great time to experiment and mix patterns. I was originally wearing the polka dot top and a striped skirt but when I saw this polka dot skirt I thought it would be fun to mix two different polka dot prints. When I tried the top with the skirt, I thought it was a great combination.
{Top|H&M} {Skirt & Cardigan|Target} {shoes|My moms} {bag|Aldo}

For the accessories I used black and gold accessories to keep it simple and I love black and gold accessories and I think they keep the monochrome theme going. I didn't have any plain black flats so I looked into my favorite place to look for things, my moms closet and when I saw these I knew they would go great with the outfit. I don't know about you but I really love looking in my mom's closet there's always great finds in there. Too bad we don't wear the same size in clothes because my mom has cute clothes too. But at least I can always use her accessories.
What do you think about the trend Monochrome?

Now that you've seen my look don't forget to check out the other lovely ladies from "Curves Around the World" and there great Monochrome outfits.

Taking a Big step...

Hello my dears!!! I Hope everyone had a great week and is excited for the weekend. I know I'm excited for the weekend! :)

So today's blog is for the "Pinay Curvies" link up. I decided to join this month's link up because well I'm Pilipino and I'm curvy so why not. So the theme for this month's link up is "Boots Up!" I have quite a few pairs of boots and I'm currently looking for new pair of short boots. But yeah I decided to wear my favorite pair of short boots because it's summer here in California and wearing boots isn't my first choice of shoes. But I think short boots are great to wear with dresses and skirts even in the summer because they are a great alternative to sandals.
So this posts outfit is a little different because it's something I've never worn before and I wasn't sure if I wanted to post these pictures up or take new ones with a whole other outfit. But I decided why not post it, I already took the pictures. Most of the blog isn't about my boots though but I think it's ok.

So as you can see in the picture, I'm showing my some skin and it's skin that I don't usually show. So it's a big step for me showing some belly, you can tell that I don't show it off because it's so pain compared to my tan. But you know what it's not as bad as I thought. I got this bandeau top from Forever 21+ and I've was eyeing a tribal print one that I wrote about before (here) on my blog. So when I saw it in the store I compulsively just bought it with out thinking am I really going to wear it or what am I going to wear it with. But I'm glad I bought it, it's really comfortable. I wore it to the store and I felt like people were staring at me, at first I was very uncomfortable but then I just thought all the fabulous Plus size bloggers out there who rock outfits like these with so much confidence, so I pulled myself together and told myself "You feel comfortable and you know you look great! Don't care what others think!" And I pretty much didn't think about it anymore, so this is a big step for me and feeling comfortable in my own body and I'm really happy about it.

So putting this on the internet is a big thing for me but you know what I hope to inspire girls out there to embrace their bodies and to love themselves. And by loving your body you accept it the way it is, this is why I love the instagram hashtags #honormycurves and #effyourbeautystandards because they inspire me to do both those things especially in a world that tells you that if you aren't a size model size you aren't beautiful. But I want you to all know that you are beautiful no matter your size, shape, ethnicity, skin color or whatever. :)

I hope you all have wonderful weekends! :)

Curves Around the World: Date Night

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far, I know I'm waiting for the weekend already! hehe But yeah it's that time again for the weekly challenge from "Curves Around the World", I can't believe this is already our 9th theme and we also have some great new ladies in our group so don't forget to check them out! So yeah for the theme date night, it was a close friends birthday recently and she one of those girls who loves to dress up, so I thought what a perfect opportunity for my date night outfit and you can kind of say date night with the girls counts for the theme.
So here is my outfit for you and let me tell you, I've never worn this dress before. I got this dress from Forever 21 plus at a sale and I really liked it but never wore it because I was always uncomfortable with VBO. (visible belly outline) But I have been so inspired by so many of the wonderful plus size bloggers out there, I have learned to love myself, the good and the bad, and I might have my ups and down's just like everyone else. But I know I am a lot more positive about myself and my body then I was before and I'm happy about that. I really believe no matter what size you are you should love who you are! But yeah I am so glad I wore this dress because you know what I really like it and I can't wait to wear it again!
{Dress | Forever 21+} {jacket | H&M} {shoes | Ross}
Just wanted to share this picture above because I don't know how it got blurry on the bottom, I think it was the lighting but I kinda like how it came out so I decided to add this picture to the post.

What's your go to outfit for a date night?

Now that you've looked at my Date night outfit don't forget to check out the other lovely ladies from "Curves Around the World" and see there great Date night outfits. BTW we have another new member to the group, Steph who based in Hong Kong!

I need your help!

Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a great week and is ready for the weekend. I know I am ready for the weekend! Well today's post is a little different, I need your help.

So my friends and I have been taking friend pictures almost every year since we graduated high school, give or take a few years because we couldn't get together certain years. But since this year is our 10th year since we graduated High School, yes I am that old, and our class isn't having a 10 year reunion which is ok with me because I didn't really like high school that much. Plus the people who I would want to see are still part of my life so it's ok. So my friends and I decided to have our own mini reunion because my friends who live out of town decided to come to town next weekend. Which I'm really excited because I really miss them. And since were all going to be in town we decided to spend the day together and take pictures like we used to. Now my problems is I have no idea what to wear! Let me show you some of the pictures we've taken over the years.
So above is our pictures from 2003 to 2008.

These pictures are from our 2009 pictures. We were good at taking pictures every year for the first 7 years then it got harder as we grew up.

This is the last time we took pictures and this was in 2011.

Next weekend we decided to take our pictures and we wanted it to be somewhere that reflected us because we are still very young at heart. So we decided to take our pictures at the OC fair since its in town and we can take advantage and spend time together. Now I know it's going to be hot and I want to be comfortable but I still want to look nice for the pictures. So if anyone has any suggestions I would love them.

I need help, what should I wear?

Have an awesome weekend! ~Nina~

Curves Around the World: Celebrity Inspired

Hello everyone, it's that time again for another "Curves Around the World" theme challenge. This weeks theme was a little challenging for me but I did the best that I can. This weeks theme is a Celebrity inspired look and I admire a lot of different celebrities for there style, so it was hard to pick just one and then to come up with a look was another thing.
The celebrity that I chose was Mila Kunis because I really like her style. Her red carpet looks are so elegant and so stylish, there isn't a look that I don't like of hers. The pictures below are some of my favorite looks of hers. But of coarse there are so many more looks of hers that I love as well.
Picture credits (here, here
I like her street style as well, she dresses comfortably but it's still stylish.

Instead of creating a look that is inspired by her style, I took it more literally and tried to recreate the look below. This look is what she wore to the MTV music awards in 2011. I chose this look because I know that I have similar pieces in my wardrobe so that I would be able to pull the look off.

Picture from (here, here

And here is my look! I took a simple black long sleeve shirt from Old Navy and rolled the sleeves up to the length of how her shirt is. I even tried to make it go longer to one side but it didn't really work. I wanted to straighten my hair but I didn't have a straighter but I tried to copy her hair.

As for the skirt, it's a DIY that I did a few years back and I've only worn it once. So I took this challenge as a way to wear it again. I made this skirt because I really liked a Balmain skirt and I saw a great tutorial (here) that had great instructions to recreate the look.  You can click the link to see the tutorial yourself, it's really easy.
Oh I should also Mention that I met Mila Kunis a really long time ago when she was on that 70's show. I actually met her at an NSYNC concert, and when people see this picture they say it looks like we were actually friends because we were dressed pretty identical. She was so nice when I took this picture and she wasn't wearing any makeup but she was still really pretty.

How do you think I did with the challenge? If you had this challenge who would you choose as your inspiration?

Now don't forget to check out the other lovely ladies from "Curves Around the World!"  We have a new member joining the group and her name is Bine and she's from Germany, Welcome to our little group!  :)

Curves Around the World: Denim

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. It seems like forever since I've blogged but it's been only a week because last week was so crazy with the 4th of July holiday. But yeah I'm back and it's that time again for the "Curves Around the World" themed posts.
This weeks theme is "Denim" and I didn't want to wear jeans because it's still really hot so I wasn't feeling jeans. So I looked through my closet and saw that I have a few different denim items and decided to do double denim. I've never wore two different types of denim before because i was always told not to wear denim together. But I've seen some great outfits from other bloggers that have worn double denim. So I decided to try it myself.
{top: FashionQ} {skirt: Old Navy} {necklace: H&M} {bag:Moms} {shoes: philippines}
So this is what I came up with, the double denim, a chambray top and a jean skirt. I wore this jean skirt in one of my other posts and you can check how i styled it here. And I know I've worn these same shoes a few times already on my blog but I really like these flats because I think they add a little flair to outfits and they are really comfy too.
Since a few said it was nice to show the bag that I wear I thought I would show you this one up close. This bag is from my moms closet and I found it while going through her bags and let me tell you it's one of my favorite bags. I use this bag all the time, I've actually wore this bag a few times in some of my posts but have never really showed a close up of it. But yeah it's one of those bucket bags that ties on the top and you can tell it's pretty worn out because I wear it so much. But I think it's a great color and I feel like it matches with everything. My mom doesn't even know where she got this bag but she told me that she got it back in the 70's, so i guess you can say that this bag is vintage!
Above is a close up of my necklace, I got it a few years ago when I went to San Francisco on a trip with my friends. I feel in love with this necklace right when I saw it but I actually haven't worn it a lot because I didn't really know how to style it. But when I tried it with this top I thought it looked good together. What do you guys think? Does it look ok with this top?
I got this chambray top recently from a store called Fashion Q at a mall near my aunts house in the Valley and I was so excited because half the store was plus sized. I have the same store at the mall by my house but it doesn't carry plus size clothing, so I was excited to see a new store for plus size clothing plus it was really cheap. This top was only $10, it was such a great deal. I own a chambray button up but it's too hot to wear that so when I saw this I knew it would be perfect for summer because it was sleeveless, so it's easier to wear in the summer. I really like how it's a shirt that ties at the bottom, I've seen a lot shirts that tie at different stores but I could never find one that fit me, so I'm happy I found this one. This top fits well but the boob area likes to bust open once in awhile, I don't know if any of you have that same problem but what I like to do is put a safety pin behind the buttons to help it stay closed.
What do you think about my double denim look?
Would you wear double denim?

Now don't forget to check out the other lovely ladies from "Curves Around the World!" We are down a member but I want to wish the best to Laura!

Curves Around the World: Color Blocking

Hey Everyone! It's that time again for another "Curve's Around the World" theme and this weeks theme is Color Blocking! I really like this trend because I love color and I like mixing different colors together. So I was excited for this weeks challenge because if you haven't noticed for the past few challenges I've been wearing a lot of black and white. Don't get me wrong I love wearing black and white but since it's summer I think that this is a great to wear color too.
So when I was picking out my outfit for this weeks theme, I had another outfit in mind that I wanted to wear. But this past weekend California had this heat wave going on and man do I hate when the weather is like in the 100's! So when I went to wear the outfit I originally wanted to wear, I felt like I would be so uncomfortable and hot in it. (I originally wanted to wear colored skinny jeans) So since I wanted something more comfortable I pulled out this blue hi-lo skirt that I've worn before on the blog. But I really like this skirt because it's really airy and comfortable to wear.
So when I chose the skirt I wanted to pair it with something that was lighter so I went with this mint colored top and my light yellow sweater. So the fact that my top was a spaghetti strap I wasn't comfortable wearing it alone, so I wore the sweater. I know I was doing so well with wearing sleeveless but I guess this day the insecurities won over. But I guess you always have good days and bad day, but hey at least the yellow looks cute with the rest of the outfit! :)
{skirt|Target} {tank & sandals|Old Navy} {sweater|Forever 21} {bag|Steve Maden} {watch|Khols} {Necklace|Philippines}

Since the challenge was to color block I wanted to keep my accessories neutral, that's why I chose to wear a neutral bag and sandals. By the way this is my first time I took pictures with the bag that I wore that day. I usually forget my bag or I don't really show it in my pictures, so I decided I would try out holding my bag in the pictures. What do you guys think? Is it better with or without the bag in the pictures?
